Well structured and balanced wine; great density and silky tannins. Blackberry, black cherry, cedar and clove meet on the palette. Great find! — 3 years ago
Today I have opened the 2018 The Pey Family Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon. From Saint Helena, CA Napa Valley. This is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot. A nice surprise at this price point, well worth it.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, vegetal notes, black currant, mint, spice, violets and earth.
On the palate I find black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, spice, mocha, pencil shavings and earth.
This wine is full bodied with a fresh vibrant mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium+ sandpaper tannins that leaves you with a long vegetal black fruit earthy finish. A beautiful wine from the Pey Family. Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe and healthy as we all start looking forward to the holidays ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 2 years ago
Must decant, right out of the bottle it’s a little green, but cassis still comes through. Give it 45 min plus and it’s a treat. Dark black fruit, well integrated silky tannins, slightly dense full mouthfeel with nice long finish. I just love this wine. — 3 years ago
Creamy orchard fruits. Weighty and fresh. Spent some time in neutral oak. — a year ago
Really have to agree with the wine title- this seemed “textbook” Merlot. Yes, there were some dark berry flavors, strong spices and modest tannins for a young wine. Another bottle in my search to find my wife a plethora of good merlots. This will stay on our list of must drinks. — 2 years ago
