Patrick Arnould passed over 2009 & 2010, but decided to make this 2011- a strange decision on paper. This all old-vine Pinot blanc de noir has it where it counts- in the bottle. Only 60 bottles for the USA, now 59. This seems lighter than past vintages, but still has that Nutella like hazelnut character that screams Verzenay. I will wait a year or two to have my next bottle for sure... But this long wine sure did go down easy last night! — 8 years ago
Love old GL...as old big boy St Julian comes forth. They've changed their style quite a bit now it seems but the old ones really more 'fortified' than now and why so unique in its history. Loved this 59 even as label is badly torn wine was lovely! — 9 years ago
Warm black cherries, medium bodied, very smooth. 59 cases made in 2012. — 10 years ago
Figs. Graphite. Silky n smooth. Mature. It's the best red blend I've ever had. That was the 59. Can't wait to try the 61 — 10 years ago
Similar to its Margaux brother house '59, if not as great fruit remaining. — 10 years ago
For $12, this is a pretty darn good bottle of wine. Smooth and mellow. — 11 years ago
One of the best blends (59% barbera 41% sangiovese) under $20 i have ever found in the PNW. Intense cherry from the barbera meets the earthier sangio right in the middle for a very happy marriage. Punches me right in the hangy ball as my friend KJM would say :) — 12 years ago
Fab St Estephe @ £63 drinking great already but will age lovely to 93-95 in 4-5yrs
🍇 41% Cab S & 59% Merlot

How'd the 375ml of '59 Chevy w mid-shoulder fill show?
#LIKEABOSS!
Nose of crushed leather furniture, cigar box, fig, Christmas cake, plum & hints of a red cherry cordial
Still a pop of acidity with the fruit, but richness dominated adding raisin to the flavors along w feral animale & shaved dark chocolate taking over on the lengthy finish — 8 years ago
This is a 61 and albeit not great in Sauternes that year this wine was in perfect balance of fruits, acids with lengthy backbone. Not as intense as 67 or 59 of course but beautifully elegant. Color as dark golden with touch of hazelnut brown. Neck fill. Perfect cork. — 9 years ago
Don't be fooled by the name...this doesn't smell or taste like chocolate. It is real good juice though. 59% Grenache, 25% Shiraz, 16% Mataro. Tons of cherries and Concord grapes in your face. Like a Grape Mondo. Unique blend. — 9 years ago
At $59 it's a bit pricey but it's a really good wine- big, bold but balanced — 10 years ago
This was the groups WOTN against some pretty stiff competition. 59 Leroy GE, 82 LMHB, 82 Pichon Lalande & 80 La Mouline.
This is a very underrated vintage for LaTache as it is still showing tight and firm when 1st opened but really starts opening up after 30 min of air. Very aromatic and complex with red fruits, Asian spice, dried rose petal, game bird displaying power with elegance and finesse. Always a treat to drink a fully mature LaTache that is just reaching its peak drinking window. — 10 years ago
Excellent red blend of 59% Merlot, 23% Cab Sauv, 14% Syrah, and 4% Carmenere from horse heaven hills, WA. $17. Loved the nose on this which Started with cedar and barnyard and subtle fruit and oak on the palate. The ideal amount of oak for me. Paired well with a filet. Tart cherries and spices really came out on day 2. — 10 years ago

One day wine sale today at all Northern California Whole Foods locations. 20% off all wine. 30% off any six bottles or more. Can’t find this any other place for $59. Knock em down! If you live in another part of the country, you just have to ask the wine department person when they do theirs. Tell the wine person to add you to his email reminder list for pre-order or just the sale date reminder. I believe they do it three times a year. — 7 years ago
Elegant and refined Pinot Noir. Medium color and weight with a long smooth finish complemented by dark berries, Forrest floor and casis. — 8 years ago
€29 that drinks like €59+. Waiter went straight to this as his reco. Awesome. Bordeaux trip off to a great start. — 9 years ago
An auction bottle, with a top shoulder fill and an appropriate cork. Brownish red and translucent in the glass, with brickish rims. Barnyard funk in the nose, gravel, wood, dirt, old Bordeaux fruit and some cassis. Med finish. Evolved over many hours in the glass. At the end we debated if it was slightly corked or if that was just an element of this old Haut Brion that was ok. A great experience. Not as good as the 59 or 61. But a memorable showing at our first 2016 tasting. — 9 years ago
Aged in sherry butts. One of the great Speyside single malts. At a cask strength of 59 to 62% alcohol it readily stands up to ice. Cherries, apricot, prune, oak, malt, maybe orange, with a chocolate finish. No matter the batch, always one of my favs. — 10 years ago
A gem that is drinking beautifully with ripe plum and dark berry flavors framed by ripe tannins and a touch of spice. — 10 years ago
59 Gruaud Larose stood toe to toe with 61 Haut Brion & 59 Latour in its flight. Stunning! — 10 years ago
2010 - 59%Merlot, 38%Cab Franc, 4% Petit Verdot — 11 years ago
A little sour but very smooth. Top 59 of the world wine. Smooth after taste. — 12 years ago
