The Prisoner Wine Company

The Prisoner Napa Valley Zinfandel Blend

An old friend I haven't visited in a while. The best way I can describe this is: a very well made fruit bomb. Overly sweet and ripe, but otherwise excellent. — 11 years ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1946

From my birth year. 1946 Pichon LaLande solid with soft fruit and low tannins. Not in decline but why wait. Went well with dinner and made for good conversation . Great to share with friends!! — 11 years ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Opened up nice and got the good berry and cherry opening of Silver Oak. Made the steak dinner exceptional and good value for a 2010 — 11 years ago

Monastero Suore Cistercensi

Coenobium Lazio Bianco Trebbiano Blend 2011

Beautifully made by nuns. More fruit in the 11 vintage than the '10. Apple pie, citrus and honey. Love this wine. — 11 years ago

Heitz Cellar

Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1975

The 70's for Napa-CA were phenomenal. These top vintners made wines with low alcohol and natural techniques no wonder they kicked the Bordeaux top wines in 1976 the famous Tastings of Paris! — 13 years ago

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

9.3

Likely the best Artemis Stag's Leap has ever made. Ripe blackberries, boysenberries, black plum, cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla toasted oak and caramel finish. It's not as fresh as we've had at the winery. Starting to close down in the bottle. This entry level Stag's Leap is better at this young stage than most of their 2011's. At $40, an extreme value. Can't wait to try it again in 8-10 years! — 11 years ago

Sicilia Il Frappato 2012

Impressive Frappato... once given time to open up. At first it is very reduced with barnyard notes upfront. Given an hour time it transforms into an elegant refined wine. Very impressive and unique, so different from other wines made from this grape which are pleasant but unpretentious summer reds — 11 years ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2012

En magnum. Beefy nose, well made as always. — 12 years ago
