Rathfinny

Traditional Method Brut Blanc de Noir 2015

Copper in colour, the 2015 Blanc de Noirs from Rathfinny in Sussex is a magical expression of the style and another exceptional English sparkling wine.

The nose features rich aromas of bruised apple, strawberry, brioche and orange peel. The palate is broad, mouth-filling and adds peach and nectarine (Molly’s notes) to the call sheet.

A wine I’d love to pitch against a French equivalent.

Bombay Gin

Sapphire East London Dry Gin

Never been crazy about Bombay sapphire but holy smokes this East is delish. The lemongrass, peppercorn and even green tea-like notes make this a sensual journey. Don't use this in a martini, enjoy it with a few cubes and a zest of lemon. — 10 years ago

Old Speckled Hen English Fine Ale

Yum. Close your eyes and be transported to a cozy English country pub. Perfect with a Ploughman’s or a Steak and Ale pie. This bottled version is so much better than the nitro version which used to available. — 5 years ago

Hindleap Brut Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay 2009

Fab £26 🇬🇧 BdB fizz w/ some age but kicking lovely fruits 👍 Very good for money 😁 The 🇬🇧 09s seem to be consistently good 👍

🍷 Light straw

👃 Crisp green apple through citrus w/ a touch of pear

👄 Med body refreshing persistent fine bubbles mousse of green apple in med+ acidity w/ a citrus lemon sorbet kick & nutty tones

🎯 Long green apple & citrus w/ touch dry sour grapefruit linger

🧀 With a piece of Comte this went very creamy when warmer oozing pears & waxy lemon yum 😉

Black Dog Hill Vineyard

Classic Cuvee Sparkling Blend 2011

Quite a pale coloured sparkling wine with a quite light bouquet of pear. The taste is a delightful but delicate ripe pear and lime. Quite soft and refreshing albeit the aftertaste is relatively short-lived. Lacks the complexity of a full blown champagne but I rank this 'grower' English sparkling wine as superior to Nyetimber's classic cuvée. Ultimately very quaffable and (currently) very good value. Recommended. — 9 years ago

Brut Blanc de Blancs 2013

A lovely yeast to the nose, almost creamy, if you can imagine the smell of that..
Fine, tight bubbles, crisp Granny Smith, cider apples, tangerine acidity.

Yet another fantastic sparkler from England!
