Out of the three Rye Whiskey samples that we tried this was my favorite. Keeping in mind that I was a "Rye Whiskey Virgin" until that night, so I'm no expert. But I do know what I like. Another gift from a new Kentucky friend: fairly hi-octane mellowed by Port wine barrel aging, shows a darker amber color, mellow woody flavors, some spice, orange peel, vanilla, mocha, roasted chestnuts among other myriad notes. Nice finish - a Bourbon that needs some H2O to cut the ALC to highlight aromatics. — 7 years ago
