Stony Hill

Napa Valley Gewürztraminer 1997

19 yrs old and still stunning late harvest CHARDONNY... Complex with vibrant fruit and acidity. Only two barrels made. The finest late harvest CHARDONNY I have ever had.... Lush and balanced. Only have one bottle left. Very lucky to have a few bottles.....

Grand Cru Brand Riesling 2009

Incomparable Riesling! Very oily and mineral. Nose is dominated by stony complexity: wet rocks, moss, white tea, straw, wool and jasmin. Discrete fruit associations in the back: peach kernel and red apple peel. Hints of petrol. Salty palate, very mineral and stony too, wonderful concentration and focus. Lots of tension and persistence in the impressive finish, which caries its alcoholic content (14%) well. Oh, and its completely dry! It rocks, big time. — 9 years ago

Jefferson's Presidential Select

Ocean Aged At Sea Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Finishing off the night...cheesecake and bourbon. Ocean is definitely a wee bit briny but has all the savory caramel and vanilla notes of its Presidential brethren, smooth and rich comported. And not so loaded with the alky...so I may have another — 10 years ago

Bright aromas of sour red cherries, rhubarb, earthy spice and some savorury/stalky herbal qualities. Both and weight both immaculate. Supple, fluid, intense and great length. Drinking well now with develop just stating to peek through the primary fruits. Still has time. — 9 years ago

Los Carneros Vin Gris of Pinot Noir 2014

Salmon, orange in color. Citrus, watermelon rind, and stony minerality with some good acidity and a lingering finish. Sinskey is a perennial Rose favorite, and for good reason. Well made and enjoyable. — 10 years ago

Not expected for a Noir. Almost made me use Apple pay to get a bottle. Will check my Columbus store. Peaceful evenings.

Single Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir 2013

Aavery nice everyday wine at this price point. Fruity, not particularly complex. Bright fruit, mostly sour cherry and cranberry, but with an overriding sweetness, so no puckering. — 10 years ago

Fascinating stuff. Stony, lean, smoky -- kind of like an Albariño. Fleshed out more when it warmed from cellar temp. Think it will gain lots from aging a bit... — 11 years ago
