Nose is moderately intense blackberry and a kiss of rubber and black pepper. As this opens lilacs and violets.
Palate is silky blackberry. Internal aromatics are violets and blackberry flowers.
This is always such a great value every year. So well made. Such great typicity. So well made. Best value in the rhone. Ez.
A $50 wine for $25.

Always a joy to check in with Souhaut. This Syrah is in a better early drinking place, oddly enough, than the Gamay. Very pleasurable with nice tannic presence. — 7 years ago

Gaillard: the gentlest giant of the Rhône whose wines are always what I want them to be and more. Wish you were here! — 10 years ago
Gorgeous St Joseph. Layered with meat and olives and iron. — 6 months ago
Medium ruby with medium pink ruby rim . Slightly smoky dark plum and cherry, quite reserved and still young with a granite like , stony notes, after a while a touch of that garrigue . On the palate nice ripe dark plum and cherry notes , black pepper , touch of spice , refreshing acidity and quite gritty tannins , fills out well on the palate , with a saline tinge on the medium length finish . Drinking well now though could improve over the next 5 years or so and last well a further 5 . — 9 months ago
Wow! this is a purest form of saint Joseph. Absolutely delicious with clean silky tannin finish. Deep in colour with lively ripe black berry explosion in the mouth. Hints of leather and lime stone on the nose...ready to drink. Guigal delivers, but now I can’t wait to try the epic 2015. — 6 years ago
Earthy, dusty, Violet, red/black cherry, blueberry, earl grey tea, mint, thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg. Complex with layer of flavor. Med plus body with med to med plus acidity, med plus tannin. A beautiful st Joseph — 7 years ago
Concentration and freshness. The very unique Graillot touch. — 9 years ago

Deep, rich and enveloped within a delicate creaminess here is a Northern Rhône white that deserves its praise. The fruit is soft and doesn’t overlay the mineral component. I really like this one. — 6 years ago
