Located to the east of the village of Saint-Émilion, on one of the high points of the appellation and it extends over 20 hectares. Ch was promoted to "Saint-Emilion Grand cru classé" in 2006. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark Crimson with ripe fruit aromas & herb notes. On the palate black cherry & raspberry, currant-like, with tobacco & cacao notes. Dusty fine tannins, lingering finish ending with earthy mineral tones, drinkable now, but ‘12 has more L-T aging. — 8 years ago
Some absurd ratings out there for this nice but decidedly middle of the road Burg. Light for the vintage. A dark translucent salmon (I've seen some darker roses). Nose of cranberry and orange peel with a little briar and a light touch of spice but not really perfumed. Lithe finish with ample acidity and fine tannins. If pressed I would guess village level Vosne. — 9 years ago

What an incredible treat. Up in the medieval village of Chèvre D'Or overlooking the Mediterranean- it goes perfect with that! Rich and elegant - warm and scintillating- every single sip. — 9 years ago
This elegantly beautiful wine has perfectly balanced oak aging and Burgundian minerality. It has a touch of everything a village level wine should have, including notes of toast, oak, butter, citrus, flint and white flowers. Very delicious — 10 years ago
Lovely! Delicate with receding fruit and emerging leather notes. Burgundian. $200 on St Elmo list in Indy. Want another one tomorrow! — 10 years ago
2005 Lucie and Auguste Lignier Clos de La Roche
Decanted 3hrs. First Clos de La Roche ever!
Nose: black cherry and spice on nose. Still tight
Ripe fruit on palette with some sour cherries. Big depth. lots of tannins on the finish.
I put it in the fridge and tried it again on day 2 at room temp. It had just a little more perfume to the nose but didn't taste much different. I was hoping it would have opened up more.
I've only had 1er cru and village MSD to compare it to and I'm guessing this needs more time?
The 1er cru wines were 2005 and had more perfumed noses with excellent depth. palette was perfectly balanced in my opinion. — 10 years ago
Lean and rustic; lovely. Haven't had a village Gevrey quite like it. — 11 years ago
Village Pub with Taylor 2/10/14 — 12 years ago
Great local red from my favorite Alsatian village - easy on the palette with a great bouquet — 12 years ago
Solid as ever-tight, crisp and clean... fleshed out w/ a little St. Alban’s.... — 7 years ago
Blind I could spot this by the colour. Ruby red and a nose of decaying leaves is a dead give away. I was shocked at the firm tannins from this Pinot. Barnyard, fur,, truffle, and hints of licorice make this a memorable wine. With a 45 second finish this is a qpr at the village level. — 8 years ago
This village-level Chablis offers classic aromas of iodiney oyster shell and lime with a sexy suggestion of baked bread. Its thick, ripe flavors of orange zest and ginger are perfectly leavened by racy lemony acidity. Pair this penetrating wine with food now or hold it for 6 to 12 months. (ST) — 9 years ago
En l'état actuel, ce village est superbe! — 10 years ago
Turned 38 so have to celebrate with my favorite Burgundy village in the penthouses of HK. Mouth full of fruit a bit young just like me paired with Belon oysters and Beluga — 10 years ago
In a good year the village can be quite good. — 10 years ago
Very bright, very pretty red fruit (raspberry, red cherry) but overripe nor jammy. Lightly spiced, graphitey mineral, light smoke. Very pure. Light-medium bodied, very fresh acidity driving thorough very sour cherry notes, very bright and juicy, similar structure to a decent Nuits St George village wine. Good elegance, lively freshness — 10 years ago
Aie !

TASTING:
Light yellow (thanks to the old vineyards - 50 years old) colour and an elegant fruity scent. Flavors of fresh buttered bread with
floral fragrances as well as a sweet aroma of ripe fruits and a roasted hint are characteristic of this wine.

Amazing village level wine. Better and better over three full days. — 8 years ago
Rustic tannins as expected but lots of stewed and dried fruit from a big vintage along with the earthiness of the village — 9 years ago
I get more excited about BR that over delivers than a lot of clear & transparent village level stuff. — 9 years ago
The light ruby color lets you know this is Murat. Spellbinding nose of earthy Morey dusty love. Some dark cherries underneath. Very aromatic and precise. Incredibly light and pure with a dizzying array of beautiful juicy fruit and mineral. What sap and power yet so light and pure. Only in Burgundy. Spectacular. — 10 years ago
Perfect foil for our Dover sole meuniere and grilled seafood misti. Performs well above its lesser known appellation, though it is 1er Cru monopole. Great value too as this will smoke just about any village Blanc. Hints of Meursault saline and fruit nose with the breadth of a St. Aubin. Well integrated oak peeks out in the nose and at the back of the palate to tie in with the minerally and lush finish. #burgundy — 10 years ago
They have 52 different parcels this cuvée is an old vineyard selection 70 year old vines planted in 1944 this wine has another level of richness creamy texture with a long layered finish. The village level wines see no oak. This appellation is one of the newest as of 1971. Most excellent — 10 years ago
A sweet rose with a dry follow up by coincidence also tasted in St. Martin — 11 years ago
Super nose of wet stone and lemon. Terrific for a village WB. Classy stuff — 12 years ago

Nose of hay, earth, vanilla, cherry, iron. Profound and complex. The palate is long and wide with cherry along a strong acid backbone. Silky touch on the sides. An oaky thing happening in there too. Strong persistence of the vanilla and cherry for an everlasting finish. What a village! — 7 years ago
