Mineral, hints of peach and coconut, underlying wet wool. Creamy lemon curd, granny smith, firm acidity and broader palate, slightly short to finish. — 6 years ago
As the infamous spy Austin Powers would say "yeah, baby yeah!"
Like a junkie I needed a fix of something that speaks to me after drinking earlier wine plus my wife threatened me with ill will if I didn't uncork a beauty
My team got beat and I was upset but after opening this baby I feel like "it's alive"
I know it is a 2011 but it is from one of the best Napa vineyards and Schrader can make some great wine when they want to
This is not great but man as I said it is speaking to me with nice silky tannins - big dark blue fruits - intoxicating deep color that would make redacted artist envious and finally this last a really long time on palette - long like when parachuting and the chute opens and it feels like eternity but is only a few minutes or so - oh and decanted for four hours by accident
I like Mr brown as a winemaker and pray the Constellations group does not screw it up after their recent purchase

We really enjoyed this wine. Lucious fruit on the nose and palate. The texture and aromas of this wine give it its distinctness. — 5 years ago
Evolved over hours. From honeyed to spy sauce on the nose. Very dense. — 6 years ago

Made in Corvallis Oregon. Contains a blend of four American and English apple varieties- Roxbury Russet, Ashmead’s Kernel, D’arcy Spice and Northern Spy - slowly fermented with white wine yeast. 6.9% ABV. Very pale yellow white, not much head on pour, pinpoint bubbles that quickly fade, very slight haziness. Beautifully rich perfumed nose. Crisp, long slightly malic finish, spiced aftertaste, carbonation spritz throughout. Almost dry. Well made, special stuff, intriguing structure. It’s definitely worth trying though I’m not sure I’d want to drink it regularly (meaning it’s not a good candidate to become a session cider for me, even if it were regularly available). Some core astringency on finish as well. Must be the acid-tannin-spiciness combo that I’m struggling with; some will love it, but... — 5 years ago
Ah, €8 at the local Coop. It's delectable. Bright fruit, summer cherries, a little spice, but not heavy on the tongue. Overall a gorgeous wine with simple pasta, pork, and just drinking while watching a great spy flick on a chilly winter's evening. — 6 years ago
The 1997 is in a glorious spot right know. All the components are in harmony. The nose is so intoxicating almost haunting. Notes of road tar, black olive, spy, fennel seed are wrapped with dried black cherry, plum, cassis and blood orange. The tannins are silky with lots of spice and earth tones with the dried and fresh red fruit flavors. Mineral and fruit driven finish. I very minor nit is the mid-palate lacks just a bit of texture. 1997 was a tough year but the Chave philosophy of blending across the lieu fits and a rigorous selection have yielded a gem. From a hedonistic perspective this is a 10. — 7 years ago
Extremely citrus, crispy acid wine, full of grapefruits. Now I know, that Kiwis can make Sav Blanc of any color out of anything. Great staff. — 8 years ago
