Nose is a bit quiet. Some wet stones but surprisingly quiet. Maybe too cold? Palate is electric. Wow. Just a big zing of fresh mouthwatering minerals. Really long. Really closed. Unusual for it to be this closed but it’s all there. Needs to come together! Some sugar snap peas and florals with coaxing. Really long and mouthcoating. So pure and energetic. Wow. Really great. I’ll be back.
Really coming around now. Expansive and herbal aromas. Floral and so delicate. Ripe, juicy, long. Salty. Great structure. — 5 years ago
What a wine. Genius. Brilliant. But that’s 2019. Insane nose of honeysuckle, caramel nougat, spice, mineral, confectionary notes, apricot, peach skin and superb head spinning mineralIty. What a palate. Elegant, spicy, tons of apricot and peach skin, and so juicy and energetic. Pure and sappy. So nimble but also has energy and substance for days. Citrus, marmalade flavors develop after some minutes. Juicy and so clean. Unreal. So pure. Sappy and dense. Balanced and long. This has serious stuffing. What a wine. Perfect ripeness balanced with scintillating minerality and energy. Chewy. Wonderful. After some air one gets lost in the nose and aroma. Dizzying. The best honeyed aromas. Pitted fruits now and more incisive minerality. So long. A stunner. — 6 years ago
2017 vintage. Lime, petrol nose. Racy acidity/minerality. Lengthy finish. Everything you want from a German Riesling. Fantastic! — 8 years ago

2013 Battenfeld-Spanier Eisbach Riesling - sick. Rich, powerful, dry but huge fruit. — 12 years ago
Delicious. Better than the Keller Feuervogel IMO and costs a third as much. — 4 years ago
Sickness. Just an amazing wine. Nose smells like elite St. Aubin or boss Meursault. Floral, hint of butter, blast of limestone. Beeswax. So so good amazingly pure. So so aromatic. Just blasts your nostrils. Ripe but also so many cooling minerals. Complex, juicy and so ripe. So pure. Chardonnay drop. Long finish. Just pure pleasure. — 5 years ago

One of my favorite Rieslings — 8 years ago
One bottle of this is never enough — 11 years ago
Restrained in the nose at first, then delivering lemmon, white flowers, a hint of petrol (early?). High. Acid which extends the lemmon driven aftertaste. Missed the expressive nose I had with this a few vintages back. Maybe a bad moment? — 4 years ago

Rock licking delicious. Thanks @lylefass for this gem . Hubs who doesn’t love Riesling keeps grabbing the bottle. — 5 years ago
Nose is lemon flower and mineral. So pretty
Palate is candied lemon. Petrified and crushed lemon. So “sweet”. This is insanely delicious.
As this opens sleek and elegant. Less fresh crushed rock and more powdery. Lovely internal aromatics.

Such an expressive nose. Superbly mineral and confectionary. Almost a vanilla nougat element that is so clean. Awesome. So floral as well. Pretty as pretty can be. Huge minerals. Wet rocks. Exactly what one wants. A nose so expressive of place. Wow. Powerful, deep and concentrated with incredible mineral inner mouth aromas and that confectionary aroma. Thrilling palate. Structured and deep. So elegant but also substantially powerful. A wine of contests. Super saline and grippy finish. Beautiful mineral driven 1er Cru Riesling with superb sap and structure on the slowly building and very long finish. So terrific. After some air tangy fleshy peach and apricot fruit start to develop on the finish. But this is still a mineral driven wine. Awesome complexity on the finish. Pure. Structured. Sappy. After 5 hours nose is so expansive and aromatic. Hints of leather and insane forest floor. Palate is more integrated and complete. Seamless and structured. So long and complex. The most GG like Ortsweine. — 6 years ago
Wow a totally different expression of Pinot noir. Nose is lilacs and raspberry. Palate is gorgeous raspberry and a bit of spice. Lilac juice if that makes sense. Really juicy delicious sweet fruit. Great balance. Long juicy raspberry liquor finish. Wow. This is what great winemakers do. They make wines that reflect grapes and terroir in a very precise clean way.
