Jammy and very smooth in the mouth. — 11 years ago
Not at what I expected. Mellow with vanilla and stone fruit on the nose and tongue. Very bourbony in an odd kind of way. Finishes with a sort of vegetal bitterness, almost like fernet branca. I think that’s characteristic of single grains, though my experience is limited. More fascinating than delicious, but I loved drinking it all the same. — 8 years ago

Great wine. Great finish. Smooth in all the right places. Fantastic treat. — 10 years ago
This has an amazing nose that is a strange mix of rather sharp furniture polish and the taste that you get when mixing up a couple of different flavour opal fruits (star bursts to you youts) incredibly pronounced, sharp tropical fruits (and nail polish), skittles and strawberry concentrate.
Palate is less expressive but has some wonderful green apple skin, quince, good length, very lovely stuff. — 11 years ago
(1/6) Gem Sat. Opal jewels. Oh, wow. #ArnotRoberts — 12 years ago

Outstanding Cabernet - smooth tannins but strong lingering fruit - very happy. Only drawbacks - the corks are cheap and nasty — 8 years ago
Opal apples, honeysuckle, quince, salt, almonds. Rounded acidity, medium bodied, oily coating texture, tropical fruit driven-honeyed off dry finish. Highly aromatic, more substance than sweetness. Paired beautifully with ginger panna cotta — 9 years ago
Surprisingly good for the price! Rich, fruity nose gave way quickly to a full bodied flavor, robust with cherries, pomegranate, cranberry, and oak. Very thick; very dry. — 9 years ago

Opal apples, mineral finish... Beautiful — 10 years ago
Rich and unctuous, the Meulenhof Mosel Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlelese Alte Reben 2012 is ripe, juicy apricot, golden Opal apple and paraffin, a twinkling top note of kerosene. Soft and silky on entry, with a medium level of acidity that leans towards bright citrus fruit, candied lemon peel and dried pineapple. I found my self looking for only just a little more acidity and mineral verve, that being said, the finish is reasonably lengthy. Overall, a delightful Spätlelese. 8.0% ABV — 11 years ago
