Amazing!!!!! My favourite blend pairs well with everything — 10 years ago
This is one great wine. Day one was strong fennel smell and flavor. Dry, very smooth. Fennel toned down second day with nice dry fruit. A real treat. — 10 years ago
Very young - this is wine for the cellar. Dark spice, hints of green herbs. The nose is like walking into a Chinese herb shop. Crushed chalk. Plum skins. Texture is very smooth with deep hints of baking chocolate dusting. This is quite the thoroughbred Cabernet: Elegant, Pure, Pristine, and Powerful. $175 at winery. — 11 years ago
Melon and stone fruit. Earthy, mineral, funkiness. Great structure and terrific length. — 11 years ago
Really great - bouquet started reticent, but opened up with a little air. Nice soft tannin from the skins, but great fruit and acid make for a balanced structure with a great textured mouthfeel. — 11 years ago
"I hit the skins for the hell of it, just for the...." Mmm mmmm mmm — 12 years ago
Elena makes magic happen. 3mo on skins yet no bitterness or oxidation. Serious but not severe. — 13 years ago
I LOVE this wine. It is so old school. So much like the better CDRs and CDRVs I used to drink/sell in the early 80s. Very earthy, funky, aged meaty nose. Peppery, roasted green herbs, iodine-tinged flavors. There’s spicy blackberry skins too, but that takes a back seat to farmy garrigue. Clingy and damn good. Cambie may have have Ginger-ized most of the southern Rhône, but it is really nice to find that Mary Ann is still in the house. — 7 years ago
Massive, perfumed nose of 100 scents. Full mouthfeel with some tannin, so I get the joy of the fermentation happening on skins. Beautiful and begging for food. — 8 years ago
Dampt made killer 13's. Just nailed the vintage. Minerals, seashells, apple skins, on the nose. Lively rich texture, but nice acidity, soft but present and works so well within the context of the vintage. Really elegant with lovely minerality. A great drink on a humid day. — 10 years ago
Orange wine. Similar to rose as far as grape skin contact except this sits longer on the skins. Really well bodied and delicious — 10 years ago
Going back in the memories to 1 year ago in Paso Robles. — 11 years ago
2012 Erde Sept Muster 9 mths on the skins, terrific — 11 years ago
Better than most CDP's I've had lately and for under 20 bones. — 11 years ago
Showing well for the age. Texture was pure silk. Good bit of fruit still left in the old bones. Can't wait to show Jean-Louis Carbonnier. — 12 years ago
10 days on the skins. Yowza — 12 years ago
Tomato nose, forest floor, my kinda boy. — 7 years ago
Citrus and fading oak on the nose. In the mouth it reminded me of sushi as this bottle was all about texture. Sat in your mouth but then started to build like a firecracker with a long fuse. Slowly citrus flavors and nut flavors are joined by apple skins and sets up camp on your tongue. Squats there but never explodes . — 8 years ago
Foradori Fontanasanta – Nosiola Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2014
New year, a new grape (Nosiola)!
Nosiola is an ancient varietal only found in these parts of Trentino. This wine is made from a tiny 2 hectares planted in calcareous clay and farmed biodynamically. Fermentation and aging take place on the skins in clay amphora for a total time of 8 months.
The color is an elegant straw gold color with a green tint. The nose and palate show floral, chiseled rock minerality and the fruit runs in the fresh but subtle spectrum of pear, citrus and kiwi. A gorgeous purity and elegance flows over the palate. There are zero traces upon appearance, aroma or taste that hint to typical amphora (orange) wines.

Excellent for its modest price tag, the Clouet family has been farming their vineyards in Bouzy and Ambonnay since 1751. The Grande Réserve Brut Grand Cru is their entry-level label and it offers a classic profile of apple skins, red berries and a faint whiff of toast. The profile is clean, and balanced with some creaminess upfront offset by chalky minerality at the finish. Nice persistence, I would certainly buy it again. — 11 years ago
Thank you @melissa_ful for such a beautiful surprise! — 12 years ago
Bob McDonald

An interesting varietal - Saperavi is an ancient Georgian varietal which is known to be long living in the former Soviet republics where it is grown extensively. Has bobbed up here in Queensland at Ballandean Estate. Very dense ruby in colour. Aromas of plum skins and dark berry fruits extending to the palate with a savoury twist. A core of fruit which will carry this through for some years. Great experiment. Saperavi has s good future in Ballandean. — 7 years ago
