Pedra de Guix Priorat Garnatxa Blanca Blend 2012

Steve Matthiasson
9.5

First off, really fun varieties. But they combine to give a remarkable sense of sweetness in a dry white. And so complex. I love the layers and balance of white blends. — 11 years ago

The 2011 was ⅓ each macabeo, pedro ximenez, garnatxa blanca. I would guess similar for the 2012.

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Sonoma Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Great big Mountain Cab... black currant and earth with just touch of spice. Sense of place on Sonoma Mountain. Dark ruby / purple color. Yum! — 11 years ago

Antidoto

Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2011

Balance in a very saturated way I must say. It explains it well enough that someone from Bordeaux made this Spanish wine and called it 'Antidoto,' as if to cure the over saturated taste buds of the American market. It all makes perfect sense. As if I had a glass of fresh pressed orange juice to drink with my red velvet cake. Unexpected, and highly enjoyable. My diet of pizza seems to be appropriate lately as well. — 12 years ago

Weitenberg Grüner Veltliner 2008

9.9

Precision personified, with deft, ballerina-like grace and a sense of purpose and focus not usually encountered outside of a boxing ring or F1 track. Transparent winemaking honors the vineyard site, this is the finest Gruner Veltliner I've enjoyed In years. The right wine at the right time. 101 points. — 13 years ago

Château Palmer

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1979

Delicious and drinking so well. A year younger than me and showing youth, vigor and a sense of refinement lacking in me. Cinnamon, tobacco leaf, red fruits, dry tannins. — 11 years ago

Agree with Dan. Not a killer wine but honest, well made and with good sense of place. — 12 years ago

08 marcoux Chnf : xlnt med to hwt colour w some lightening at the meniscus ; lively (!) melange of red and black fruits; vibrant palate of cx fruit flavours , touch of earth, genuine cut, this really is quite tasty. Delicious. My style of Chnf and refreshing in a region where I sense confusion amongst the producers as to style direction. — 12 years ago
