Oh yes I did. If the somms of Texas are going to grab pretty much every bottle not earmarked for NYC and CA, then I'm drinking this one! Grown on limestone, yes, this is a very different idea of what Gruner can do. Embrace it. There are grapes, and there is the soil/dirt/rocks/minerals they are planted in. — 9 years ago
Great riesling. French taste, to food or for hangout. Really worth the price — 5 years ago
Sweet and fruit comes through. Not cloying. Really enjoyed it and I usually don't like anything close to sweet. — 6 years ago

This is stunning. Tart cherries with a touch of nutmeg. Deeply oxidized but well balanced with its acidity and oaky tannins. Caramel coming through as the initial carbonation subsides. Closest comparison is Cuvée Freddy, and while that beer is great, this is better. Ready to drink right after pouring, and I suspect it will improve with some time and warming. — 7 years ago
Nose is similar to a Maryland style, also with Black Tea/Bergamot notes. Nice smooth and slightly sweet finish. — 8 years ago
Second time for me tasting this wine and I'm still impressed by the complexity. So many layers of different aromas. Very impressive. On the palate its a totally differential approach than all the GGs I tasted before. Much rounder, softer with pure elegance and a super, super subtle power. This Sankt Nikolaus plays in a totally different league. Kühn told us that he wants to do a different wine out of the grape variety than the other producers. Like the Tements do in Austria with their Sauvignon Blancs he said. — 9 years ago
Simply likeable St. Laurent varietal from Pfalz. Straight forward juice! — 5 years ago
Nice fruitiness and bit of residual sugar here at 9% Alc. Juicy with ripe citrus and stone fruit.
Just lacking some of the acidic tension and verve I crave. But for $12?!? What’s not to love about the undervaluation of German Riesling? — 6 years ago

Funky, herbal, earthy Austrians all up in my mouth. — 8 years ago
Not on the same level than the Sankt Nikolaus imo. More on the riper fruit side as the site is warmer. Also very complex in the nose but missing the extra umph I get from the SN. And I'm very curious how it will age, appeals very open & "ready" at the moment. — 9 years ago

Since I’m fairly uneducated when it comes to Austrian wines, my associations were predominantly French...
Reminds of an aged Morgon. Or a younger Saint Joseph.
Red and black fruit, great acidity, lots of peppery spice and crunchy bite. — 5 years ago
