Whoa nelly. So glad to have found this in the back of the fridge. Oxidation folded in; an old cheese of a wine. And bright. Friend of Indian food! — 7 years ago
So good -- wonderful precision and length. At least another couple years left — 8 years ago
Tasted blind. Thought it was the cuvée Sacha from Puff.
Nice and elegant oxidative notes with nice fruit underneath. Salty. It reminds of Sacha because of the softer acidity and oxidation. Really good. — 9 years ago
This is a beautiful light and dry rose. I want more! — 9 years ago
@market provision, super smooth, round and well balanced ( with Sacha / Lucy / Kate ) — 9 years ago
2016 vintage. 65% Sauvignon blanc with 35% Sémillon. At the time this estate was owned by Jean-Michel Cazes (Lynch Bages and more recently Haut-Batailley), but the current owners are the Groupe Ballande (Bordeaux négociants who also own Prieuré Lichine and Baret). Exotic fruit and a hint of flowers. Round and ripe with enough acidity in this warm vintage. Good length with impressions of vanilla. Good value. — 4 years ago
Elegant blend of the perfectly selected grapes from Provence... Sasha Lichine, once again, as had his family predecessors, has done a magnificent job! Congrats! Eating with some soft mild cheeses & ripe sweet melon.... PUUUURRRRFECT! — 8 years ago
Gracias Sacha. Te debemos tanto... — 8 years ago

2016 vintage. While this estate has been in the hands of the same family since 1858, it is under the reigns of current owner Eduard Miailhe that Siran is showing its true potential. The vineyards are situated in Labarde, the Southern part of the Margaux appellation, surrounded by Crus Classés Dauzac, Prieuré- Lichine and Giscours. 2016 was the first vintage made by oenologist Marjolaine Defrance, with Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus) as consultant since 2014. It's a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, aged for 12 months in French barriques (35% new). Obviously it's way too young to show its full potential, but it is a terrific effort, undoubtedly at Cru Classé level. Concentrated black fruit (cassis, cherries, blackberries), violets, licorice and a subtle touch of cedar wood. It displays classic Margaux elegance, complexity, impeccable balance and considerable length. At only 28 euros this is one of the finest values in Margaux that should drink well over the next 20 to 30 years. — 4 years ago
Grand Cru.
Chateau Lascombes has been producing fine wine on the same location for about 300 years or so. In the 1855 Classification it was ranked as one of the 15 “Second Growths” of Bordeaux, which meant it was one of the 20 best vineyards in France and therefore - at least according to the French - the world. It’s had its ups and downs over the years but has been a top performer in most rankings for the last 30 years or so. At one point in the 1970’s I believe it was owned by one of the worlds best known wine critics, Alexis Lichine (with financial backing from David Rockefeller). I think it was bought from them in the late 1990’s or so.
Known for its smooth flavors and never overly tannic, I would bet it tasted great!
Parker gave this one a “94” when he tasted it and said to drink it between 2014 and 2020. In Honor of Nick! — 7 years ago
