A good supertuscan, good Bordeaux blend but with the rough-and-ready leather of Sangiovese wrapping it all up. 09 needs another 5 years or so to really allow acid to settle down and fruit to open up but is still a lovely drink now. Enjoyed very much with grouse, and even more so wth wild boar ragú. — 10 years ago
Dead cool. Some nutty sherry notes and wicked cool-climate Chardonnay acid. Grouse wine. — 10 years ago
Lovely sweetness to the fruit and excellent length. Perfectly mature & superb match to grouse. — 11 years ago
Quite peaty with smoky notes and some caramel. I added a couple drops of water and found that it opened up quite nicely. Great blend for the price point — 11 years ago
monster aromatics, much lighter and drier than you would expect. — 12 years ago

Highland Streaker - grouse whiskey base but what makes it is the Laphroaig spritz. Really good. — 8 years ago
Gold Reserve, a blend crafted from malt and grain whiskies including the Macallan and Highland Park. My night cap during Prinsengracht concert. #happiness #whisky #digestivo — 9 years ago
17.5 . 1989. Deep ruby, some brown only at the rim. Surprising tobacco on nose. Still good fruit. M+ length. Not showing much age, but should be drunk. Great with grouse. — 10 years ago

Heady, masculine aromas rise up from this one. Dusty earth, sage, charcoal, eucalyptus, roasted meat, strawberries, clove. Built on a nimble yet firm frame, the red berry fruit is braced by gamy flavors, hints of roasted lamb, grouse. Balsamic, more strawberry sail on. A touch of heat comes with the grip of the tannins, warm star anise, ground ginger, mace. — 11 years ago

2006 vintage. Most excellent Gigondas, still fresh and fruity with cool mouthfeel but good spicy long finish.
Plenty of life ahead of it (not this actual bottle, obviously!). With pot roasted grouse. — 11 years ago
