Ripe; blackberries, dark cherry kirsch, plum, mulberries, blueberries, poached & strawberries, black raspberries & raspberries. Black licorice, star anise, dark chocolate bar, volcanic & limestone, steeped fruit teas, dark cola, sweet tarry notes, black, rich, turned earth, mid, dark spices, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, barrel shavings with char, dry brush, leather, fresh tobacco, granite, some eucalyptus, mint notes, light, dry herbs with fresh & some withering red, dark, purple and blue, fresh and slightly candied florals.
The body is; round, ripe, & rich. The tension, structure, length and balance are just beginning their sweet spot. The tannins are; rounding, tarry & still chewy. Plenty of life left in the 09...8-10 years. Dark currants & cassis. Light nose of citrus fruits, minerals and light yeast.
Medium-bodied with high acidity.
Dry on the palate with limes, grapefruits, green apples, brioche, earth, light yeast, minerals, spices and herbs.
Long finish with limes and herbs.
This is a very tasty Champagne, albeit still young. Elegant and rich with nice complexity. Crisp and refreshing.
Didn't love it right out of the bottle, and needed 45 minutes of airtime to open up properly, so be patient.
I've had a few different vintages of this Champagne, and always enjoyed it.
Needs 5 years to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.
A blend of 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir. Aged for 8 years on its lees.
12.5% alcohol by volume.

Night 1 of the Fall WNH event in San Antonio. What a killer start to the extended weekend, all courtesy to Shawn and Jennifer for hosting! Tonight was Italian wines.
Another in the running for WOTN. Maple and rich! Cherry and vanilla tobacco on the nose with herbal spice and a strawberry tart finish. Young and acidic! There is a very underripe red fruit dominant profile here. Crazy how young it tastes for 23yrs old. Bravo @Shawn R ! — 6 years ago

From magnum with low shoulder fill. Appropriately branded cork came out intact. Dark reddish purple, opaque. Reddish orange rims. Heavy nose of leather saddle, blackberries, cranberries, dark unsweetened chocolate, walnuts, and some old wine funk. Fruit forward in the mouth and very rich. Structure, acidity and fruit all still perfectly balanced. With air it improved over 6 hours, and new notes like menthol and quarry stone in the nose were noted. This wine is probably not going to get better, but should be fine in the near term to hopefully show like this big boy did tonite. — 9 years ago
