At over 20 years old, the 2004 Opus One is showing beautifully, striking a balance between maturity and vibrancy. On the nose, it opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, layered with subtle notes of violet, tobacco, and espresso.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a silky texture that coats the mouth without being heavy. The core is rich with dark fruit—black plum, currant, and a touch of blueberry—balanced by earthy undertones and a whisper of leather. Definitely one of my favorites. — 8 months ago
Great. Rich deep taste. Bought with ANA points. Price about ¥10,000. — 5 years ago
A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot, blended then aged for 24 months in 50% new and 50% once-used American oak. Deep Ruby color with aromas of black fruit, licorice and minty floral notes. The palate beautifully displays rich ripe blackberry and black cherry, a hint of sweetness, vivid acidity and the right touch of toasty vanilla oak, still youthful in development. The wine has nicely integrated tannins, still holds some grip on a long finish which should give way to let this wine age for the next decade+. Excellent, Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
Rich, full bodied cab. Notes of toasted oak and coffee. Great finish. Delicious just opened and even better after aerating/breathing. — 7 years ago
Juicy. Bold. Equal to Lake Chelan. I love the hot valley rose of the pacific north west — 9 years ago
As good as it gets for my taste. Big dark full bodied red with rich flavor and smooth finish. — 9 years ago
Unique blend. A little sweet. Good table wine. Not for everyone though. Kinda breaks the rules of red wine. — 10 years ago
Figs, apricots, quince...a little lemon curd, some brioche. Rich. Love it. — 11 years ago
The first couple times I tried 08 I was definitely too quick to judge. It needs a ton of air, and it’s different from the rich, oxidative, nutty house style of the past, particularly the warm and ultra forward 2006, the previous release. 2008 is indeed young, tightly wound with a pulsating core of energy.
The first glass offers very little. Subdued, austere and youthfully reserved. But ensuing pours eventually unleash its core of powerful clean orchard fruit, coffee bean and grilled nuts. On the palate it continues to become so much more textural with crazy gains in weight, depth and fruit intensity as the night goes on. It really fills the mouth, saturating the palate with a satin-like texture, ripping citrusy acids and saline laced minerals that follow deep into its finish. Enjoyable now with enough air (needs 2 hours), but no doubt one to hold. To live forever. — 3 years ago
2017 is fab. Great QPR. Intense with backbone. Give it a few more years. it doesn’t get much better at this price-point. — 6 years ago
This ‘94 was rich and enticing - plenty of freshness and pyrazine, vanilla (light), bitter dark chocolate, and young tannins / black fruit and a finish for days — 7 years ago
Smooth, rich cherry and smoke. — 7 years ago

Highly enjoyed this half bottle! Full bodies, rich, subtle notes of berry and chocolates! — 12 years ago
Night 1 of the Fall WNH event in San Antonio. What a killer start to the extended weekend, all courtesy to Shawn and Jennifer for hosting! Tonight was Italian wines.
Another in the running for WOTN. Maple and rich! Cherry and vanilla tobacco on the nose with herbal spice and a strawberry tart finish. Young and acidic! There is a very underripe red fruit dominant profile here. Crazy how young it tastes for 23yrs old. Bravo @Shawn R ! — 7 years ago
Fantastic. Rich dark berry fruit with leathery sweet nose. Really lovely paired with roasted wild ducks. — 8 years ago
Good color lovely nose rich and long clean — 9 years ago
Check the date 2002! I was nervous opening it but happily surprised. A deep gold in color from age. Stewed fruit on the nose. Smooth, rich and velvety on the palate with a slight 'honey' accent. Still had abundant acidity. I would say it compares favorably to several older Grand Cru white burgundies I've had. — 10 years ago
Deep, rich wine. The 2007 vintage was more balanced. — 11 years ago
Rich berry fruit with layers of Christmas spices and tobacco. Pretty damn close to perfection! — 13 years ago
