Vintage 2021 | We once visited papa René Noél Legrand in Varrains; he showed modesty and determination as vintner. Clotilde makes a fine Saumur Champigny from ‘Les Liziéres’. No need to cellar long, it is a fine prove what Cabernet Franc can do. Purple reflection in colour and that joyful and vibrant cabfranc smell with raspberries and spicyness, nowhere bell pepper (showing some immaturity) and a supple elegant taste. Paired with a Cantonese dish: tenderloin with mango. Enjoyed this in the garden. — 15 days ago

My kind of wine but I’m predictable. Medium ruby but starting to show age on the rim, day bright. Aromas of violets, GBP, un-spicy jalapeño, black plum, black berries, yet also tart red cherries and cranberries, forest floor, meat, leather. Sweet tobacco on the palate. Dry, medium plus acid, medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium minus body. I would personally drink this anytime but could be a perfect fall/winter pick with all of the complexity and warm tertiary aromas. Love. — 4 years ago
