So that happened again. Another relic from a bygone age. Unfamiliar vintage but hey why not?

Acidity high. Tonnes of secondary odors, a very dirty, dirty girl indeed. Mossy, damp, barn yardy goodness. Colour still decent, definitey a rusty tinge to it, much like the fender of the chevy Malibu robbing the 7-11 beside you now.

Dark cooked cherries, and a touch of oxidation. Meh. Original cork. Still rather fun. A touch of ferniness. Is that a word? Consumed @northforktable w toughchad dec 30/17 — 9 years ago

Red fruit, cherry, cranberry, ripe strawberry, floral, pine needles, wet earth and chocolate covered cherries. M- acid, m body, m+ tannin. Great structure and balance but very young. Give it some more time. — 10 years ago

This is the "second" wine from Husic Vineyards but I struggle to call it a second wine. Made by Mike Hirby (Relic, Winter, D.R. Stephens), the wine is a deep red in the glass. The nose is full on raspberries and blackberries with baking spice. The palate delivers dark fruits, light oak, moderate tannins, light acidity. Heavy sediment. I think this could be laid down for another 5-7 years and still be strong. A very nice wine. — 8 years ago

Kashaya vineyard is only 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean, keeping the vines cool, but high enough to reduce the fog effect and increase sun exposure. Nice roundness and fruit for a Pinot Noir. Could drink this all year! — 9 years ago

Violet color with appealing mixed black and blue fruit, dried herb, vanilla, chocolate, and spice aromas. On the palate it's full-bodied, and concentrated with an oh-so supple texture and good acidity. It shows baked blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, chocolate, and cardamom flavor and a lingering finish. Approachable now, but would benefit from further aging. Delicious blend of 41% Mourvedre, 19% Grenache, 19% Syrah, 19% Carignane, 2% Petite Sirah — 10 years ago

This is the only Carignane-based wine in the Napa Valley AVA. 67% Carignane and 33% Petite Sirah from Al Frediani's classic vineyard in Calistoga. Last time I tried this it was a little more savory, but this bottle was showing a bit more of the warm vintage with bigger dark fruit. There was still a gorgeous underlayer of savory herbs, but it didn't distract from the beautiful fruit. The Archive is the 2nd label of Relic Wines by winemaker Mike Hirby. He's one of the most consistently great winemakers in the US. — 11 years ago

Garnet red with the faintest brown rim. Cocoa, cassis and cedar on the nose. The wine explodes with black cherries and raspberries on the palate. Silky tannins and a long finish. This flagship Cabernet from Husic is outstanding and made by Mike Hirby (Winter, Relic, Sarocka and who also made Realm up until 2011). — 9 years ago
