It's a dark wine, dark in color, dark in aromas and dark in flavors. The nose offers abundant blackberry and black raspberry notes with an earthy base. There is an element of smoke at the top of the glass. The palate is deep and rich, dark fruit joined with a sense of black olives and tea. It leans toward savory, but not without taking the fruit with it. The wine finishes with a little raspberry tartness and a lot of berries that stay for a medium length. It's not too much of a bruiser as far as Pinot goes, rather elegant. Let your kitchen staff know you’d like a grilled pork chop for dinner. — 9 years ago
Nicely done..smooth, light bodied and easy to drink — 9 years ago
Delicious Rhoneish! Fantastic GSM blend that is so perfectly drinkable now. Classic California with a southern rhone Chateaunuef du pape backbone. This is a wine I could drink everyday! Went great with all the food we tried tonight... Perfect for a cheese course at the end of the meal. — 11 years ago

We opened this bottle not knowing the price as it was a gift and loved it. We looked it up to get more and were absolutely floored to learn how inexpensive it is. We just got back from a very expensive trip to Napa and couldn't believe our eyes at the price of this wine. Completely recommended & the price is an added bonus. Very flavorful with an extremely pleasant finish. — 9 years ago

That year the finest cork soakers were cork soaking (look it up on SNL). Also this wine was born... |1969| For me this was the wine of the night. Tons of energy, vibrancy and power all delicately present in each sip. Back then these wines were fermented in redwood open tops then aged in the finest barrels which were whiskey barrels that had aged the napa wines before the reserve wine. after properly seasoned and leeched of any oak flavors the best wine in the house used them... It was a different way people thought. They wanted only the best wines to have no oak flavor, to be naked and with out makeup. This is what I wish for the future of Napa... Less oak more fruit, flower and earth. — 11 years ago

Great red for people who typically favor whites. Not too tannic or heavy, well balanced without being flat — 9 years ago
A youthful, vibrant, nose of citrus flowers, green melon, and crisp vegetation. High acid, but quite the creamy body. Cantaloupe, honeydew, and lemons excite the palate. 308 case production, which is halved from last vintage. A wine well worth exploring. — 9 years ago
Very nice. Will be looking for it again. — 9 years ago
Lighter bodied with cherries and raspberry on the nose but earthy at the same time. Silky mouthfeel with a great earthy finish. — 10 years ago

PnP. Very drinkable already. Spice, funk, and a melange of aromas in the nose. Velvety tannins and lively in the mid-palette. This is a thinking man’s weekday sipper. Will check back in with this in a couple days. — 8 years ago
