1985 Sassicaia. Second red wine at Redd Wood lunch w A, S, and K. This wine was perfect. Epic. We could not believe how perfect this wine was drinking. Thoroughly enjoyed it- it was enjoyable the way truffles are- hard to describe, but pleasing to all relevant senses. — 10 years ago
1982 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva. Drank at Redd Wood for dinner on New Year's Day w K, Aand S. At first we thought it had turned bc it smelled exactly like port and the color was brown and dusty. It turned within 5 minutes and came around. Super-interesting and became more rounded as the initial thinness and sharpness faded. Very interesting. — 11 years ago

1990 DRC Richebourg. Drank at Redd Wood for dinner on New Year's Day w K, A and S. Was striking to drink this after the 1982 Bruno Giacosa. This was 8 years younger and prob cellared better, but this wine was as wonderful as we'd hoped it would be. A real treat. — 11 years ago

Magnum 1985 Giacomo Conterno Monfortino Barolo. Drank during K's bday lunch at Redd Wood. Interesting to drink this in comparison with the magnum of 1990 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva. So different from each other. This wine was so delicious and elegant. Not as huge as the Giacosa. Awesome. — 10 years ago
Sharp as a knife. Needed a couple sips to calibrate my palate, but once open, super delicious. Personally, I needed this wine to come up to room temp to tame the edge, but loved it once it did. Great complement to the pan Asian dinner we had at the Redd Bar in Yountville. — 10 years ago
