Fresh/dried florals, approachable young. Digging this for all the cliche Nebbiolo reasons.

1965 Baga from Barraida (Agueda), Casal Mor 'Caves Primavera' is still made to this day! Founded in 1944.
So, now the wine!
Color of tawny and brick, absolutely as expected at this age. The cork was whole when pulled via Durand, a little wet and very dark.
The nose was sous bois, crushed fall leaves, dried chipped beef, citrus peel, dried flowers and red fruits.
The palate was elegant and indeed tasted Portuguese, with some notes and textures that reminded me of old Barbaresco, Rioja and even Burgundy in its purity and finnesse.
Further time won't help this wine, but to taste this history, this snapshot of time, is one of the reasons I love wine so much.

This wine and the dry Riesling are two of the reasons we joined the rooster hill wine club. Just outstanding Fingerlake's wines. — 9 years ago
Smooth tanning. Black wine. Reminds me tobacco for some reasons. — 9 years ago
First of all, the bouquet is layered with muddled dark fruit. Second, the body is complex in all the right reasons. It's concentrated, intense, fresh, elegant and carries the sweetness of the fruit. Raspberries and blackberries on the tongue, with a beautiful dark purple color. Medium body, medium acidity and ripe tannins round out this seductive wine. — 10 years ago
One of the reasons I love Autumn; pumpkin beers!! — 11 years ago
2011. Floral, peppery, green, wild, and intense. I love this for the same reasons I love poulsard. — 11 years ago
When you pop one and decant and then taste you never really know what to expect but gratefully my family on Delectable has helped me so much - I know it is holidays speaking but we have so much as a group to thankful for - to you and yours - have a glorious holiday
This wine has been resting for a long time - I have decided to start drinking wines that I was storing as I cannot take them with me so Dilly Dilly
What a wine what a wine what a mighty good wine
Dark purplish red as is the season - when I taste I immediately smile and laugh with hohoho sound - the smell is amazing with all the kitchen sink ingredients but somehow I smell mistletoe and cinnamon - ''tis the season again" - and the finish is long like when you watch a big snowflake fall from the sky - it takes forever and ever
Starting my annual Christmas wine journey and again thank you folks for making the wine taste even better with your likes and comments - more wine to come tonight and tomorrow

Simply the best. It's not rateable, just be clear it's the best overall for a lotta reasons. #winesathome #workedhardforthosecases — 9 years ago
This is one of the reasons I'm convinced it's almost never necessary to spend more than about $30 on a chardonnay, as this has pretty much everything I want out of the grape. Crystalline on day one, cut like a jewel with a chalky, dusty minerality that impacts the texture as much as the taste, all briny oysters on the finish, holds up well in the fridge for days putting on weight and getting deeper, more brassy tones while still featuring that chalky freshness. — 10 years ago
Count 16 reasons why cru Beaujolais is better than most- u cld age a few years too. Crushed violets, pebbles, cherries — 11 years ago

2013 Chenin, rich, golden and described as all persimmon and ginger. ❤️. Reasons it's sold out everywhere (and why I had to talk them in to selling me some bottles) — 9 years ago
1947 Fun and hard to describe what a treat just to imagine how this came about. Was there an industry in California at the time? I thought It had some characteristics of Zinfandel but it also gave me plenty of reasons not to doubt is mostly cab... And who knows what else... It is still very much alive — 10 years ago
I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got wine? — 11 years ago
My friend John Henry Snyder turned me onto this zin for good reasons!! — 11 years ago
