2010 vintage. From Jay. Bartolo Mascarello - Brief Note from Galloni Historical Retrospective Held in London April 26, 2016. Somewhat closed on the nose but nonetheless expressing black fruits, a little menthol and cracked black pepper. Somewhat reductive. Good attack. Lots of fruit and quite lush across the palette. Elegant well structured tannins with great balance. One of the best wines of the night. 94/100. Drink 2022 to 2045. — 10 years ago

Megan's wine of the night.
Absolutely superb. Definitely old world versus New World. Layers upon layers of deep and rich spice, prune and perhaps some type of herb that I could not place my finger on. you felt a kicking in on the back palate. It had so much going on that you relished every sip. This has another 20 years in front of it easily. It was just a baby tonight. No Decant!!!! Just popped and poured and it was sublime!. Thank goodness I have one left!!!!! Megan is developing an incredible Palate! She knew exactly what she did and did not like this evening. This immediately struck a chord and placed first. In all honesty, we are splitting hairs when it comes to the wines that we poured this evening. This was in my top three as well. Bravo Megan!!! This 100 point beauty definitely lived up to its hype. — 9 years ago

This is as good as Bordeaux gets. Pure perfection in a glass and got even better with an hour+ in the decanter. Wonderful earthy notes, Forrest floor, leather, spice, faint menthol and bell pepper, floral, cigar and some dark fruits finished with the kiss of God and a drop of angel tears. One of the few wines I've ever had that I would rate 100 and an epic experience. — 10 years ago

The 2009 is such a beautifully elegant, almost creamy vintage that will just keep getting better & better & better. It stuns the moment it hits your palate.

The fruit, silky texture and length are simply stupidly good. The elegance & beauty only happen a few vintages in a lifetime. The fruits are perfectly ripe, blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries and hints of blue fruits. Used leather, graphite, fresh tobacco, mocha powder, dark chocolate, stones, fresh, rich earth , medium dark spice, layered baking spices with beautiful, fresh & slightly withering; dark, red, blue and purple flowers framed in soft violets.

100 point Parker wine that will get there with another 8-10 years in bottle.

Served with the Cheese plate; Red Hawk, Hop Along & Roquefort. @Mathilde French Bistro

Damn., I’ve got to go to his house more often!!!!!! All kidding aside., we were celebrating Veronica’s (his beautiful wife) birthday and what a truly special Evening.it was. There’s nothing better than uncorking a special bottle with friends that have become like family.

Super-weird bottle. Mid-shoulder, crumbly cork, and the colour of freshly pressed strawberry juice - extremely pale as slightly cloudy! The immediate scent was quite off-putting but after 30 minutes it stormed back! Scents of autumn mulch, burning vine roots, sour cherries, and raspberry compote. A weird sourness and heady acidity on the front of the palette but it still keeps together well. Clearly badly kept but still really interesting to drink! A true testament to The quality of Mouton under the stewardship of the late Baron. I wonder if this is what some of the better kept bottles might be like in 100 years' time!? — 10 years ago
