Salt & grapefruit & ocean mist. Drinks like a summer day at the beach. — 7 years ago
Well, it's def not flat. The wine -- from a can -- pours up nice and frothy, retreating quickly to a frizzante status. The nose is beautiful and worthy of a picnic. Bright, fresh strawberry and cherry aromas dominate, with a touch of sage and earth. The flavors are ripe and sweet, with an earthy touch befitting a good rosé. Acidity is perfect, great for food pairing as well as sipping. The winemaker suggests you serve it very cold, and that will make it a great summertime wine. — 7 years ago
Great old Zin. Still plenty of fruit left. Paired well with moose steaks and rare tuna. — 9 years ago
Cranberry juice color, initially sulphur and skunky on the nose, gradually changing to raspberry/cherry and jolly rancher. Sweeter than expected and lively. Really fun and tasty wine. Short finish is only place it's lacking. Pairing with grilled moose burgers and baked potato. — 9 years ago
Smooth, nice for the price especially — 9 years ago
Apricot, lemon grass, citrus. Medium body spicy finish — 6 years ago
On any other night, this Lewelling would have been more impressive but, it followed the 03 DR Stephens Moose Valley Vineyard PNV and that’s just not a fair race.
If you tasted this blind with other Left Bank Pauillac wines, many would have called it Pauillac.
The nose has dark creme de cassis. It’s big and brooding. Dark currants, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, stewed strawberries and heavily extracted blueberries. Kirsch cherries, dark forest floor with leaves, turned black earth, limestone, river stone, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, light clove, mocha powder, black tea, anise, crushed dry rocks, underbrush, leather, port notes, herbaceous notes, light mint with fresh bright red and dark withering flowers.
The palate full, brooding and heavy. Years of life ahead. The tannins structure still big but, rounded. The tension still a little monster. The length and balance are developing but, need another 5-8 years plus easily. Dark creme de cassis. It’s big and brooding. Dark currants, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, stewed strawberries, plum skin and heavily extracted blueberries. Kirsch cherries, dark forest floor with leaves, dry clay, turned black earth, limestone, river stone, dark chocolate bar, caramel, vanilla, light clove, mocha powder, dark spice with heat, black tea, anise, lead pencil, crushed dry rocks, underbrush, leather, port notes, herbaceous notes, black pepper notes, light mint with fresh bright red and dark withering flowers and bright violets. The acidity is round. The finish is heavy, rich, elegant, well balanced fruit and earth and lasts several minutes.

Smooth and gentle flavour, great moose with subtle nut dry nut crunchiness. Wonderful aperitif champagne, punching with deserved weight for the price. — 7 years ago
Great blend, rather smooth, not bitter. Full flavour. Went very well with moose roast!!! And great company. Will buy again. — 9 years ago
Great taste! Lengthy, well balanced. It accompanied a moose burger. Great pairing. Will definitely buy again and suggest it. — 7 years ago
“When a lovely flame dies, smoke gets in your wine...”apologies to the Platters. My goodness, the smoke is up front, setting up for warm plum, and dried cherry. A long, slow, dry finish. An enjoyable wine from beginning to end. “When your heart’s on fire, you must realize, smoke gets in your wine.” Shared by Mayor Bob. With Hall, Joanna. After a visit to Moose & Virginia Mack’s. — 7 years ago
Showing really well today, this wine is often overshadowed by its slightly younger sibling, the 1990. Today, this was singing. Earthy, with anise and strong fruit on the moose, the palate was rich and round, with that special Chave funk subtly making itself known. An impressive effort. — 9 years ago
Varietals Wine sticker on the bottle. Wish that shop was still around. This bottle is right at the edge. Almost over the hill. I'm left with thrilling brink of overripe kitsch port and black cherry fruit. Overly vanilla extracted chocolate moose. White knuckle cause it's about to plummet off the cliff into syrup mush alcohol drain pour. — 9 years ago
Bold aroma, silky feel, deep rich flavor. So good and never took the back seat with dinner of moose steak, King Boletes, roast Yukon gold and magic molly potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and radishes....all from our garden, tundra, and woods. — 9 years ago
