1 hour decant(little fine/cloudy sediment). A breathtaking dark magenta color. On the nose: jumping from the glass are stewed cherries/plum, herbaceous, licorice, roasted meat, earth, touch of menthol. Taste: elegant, juicy, velvety wine with dark cherry, pepper, chocolate, cedar, and a anise/tobacco medium plus finish. From the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas mtns. Purchased on a recent visit...beautiful indoor/outdoor tasting room featuring their small production wines. If you want to throw down some serious change they offer a terrific multi course food and wine pairing in the underground cellar. — 10 months ago
The Monte Rosso was outstanding in every way- expressive nose of dark red fruits and layers that touched all parts of the palate. The flavors complimented a wonderful dinner. 8 years and still getting better. 100 year old vines that show how good Zinfandel can be when grown and tended to reveal their sense of place. Outstanding 🍷🍷🍷 — 5 years ago
Lovely, light but packs a punch. — 7 years ago
This was our second bottle. First was uninspiring and despite the 97pt RP rating, found it to be disappointing. The trick is to let it breathe for at least an hour to let the flavors develop. It is no Opus One but very satisfying with a juicy steak or just plain enjoyment! — 7 years ago
I'm with the skeptics of this vintage lots of fruit, fine, ripeness, fine but it's not that great. — 9 years ago
Dried flowers, pepper, and toffee. Lovely. — 9 years ago
Phenomenal! Dark plum base but layers of exhiberant and concentrated small dark berries and red fruit jump from the glass, but all enveloped in deep, complex earthy tones. Palate is insane, minerality and acidity are tingling, almost sparking on the sides of the mouth, mingling with the very fine lively tannins. So much pleasure without sacrificing any seriousness — 7 months ago
Ruby burgundy color. Jammy and fruit forward with berries and some spice. Smoky and a hint of umami. Rhubarb and strawberry. Tart cherry pies. Nice acidity with a hint of wet rubber or something in the palate. A tasty and unique southern red. — 5 years ago
On the richer side for a Pinot. Sour cherry flavor, higher than average tannin, lots of baking spices. Good value. — 5 years ago
The 2015, the other half of the night's comparison. Less subtle, more floral. Jasmine, rose petal, honey. All powerful, but all a bit separate and distinct. I think this could lie down for a good while. Will be pleased to try another bottle in a few years. — 7 years ago
1998 - pretty nice. — 8 years ago

Very juicy red, light tannins — 8 months ago
Peaches, pineapples, full body. Super good and interesting. — 8 months ago
Riktigt fint vin. Lamm eller nöt och någon syrlig sås såsom bearnaise är en perfekt kombo. En fransk favorit. Värd pengarna. — 5 years ago
In a rare moment; I’m having bubbly... outstanding in every-way.. — 6 years ago
Both really bright and really deep. Black currant, black raspberry followed by a hit of red currant and red raspberry. About an hour of decant until it was really hitting its stride. — 7 years ago
Very typical, lots of black pepper and sausage meat. A bit heavy on the palate and will surely get better with a bit of age. — 8 years ago
Fantastic on a humid hot day! Classic #GruVee — 9 years ago
Chapoutier never disappoints. Nice and light. Raspberry on the nose and palate. Falls off on the finish. Made for hot summer days. — 11 years ago

2020 drinking very well after a short decant - beautiful full body with a very persistent finish. Dark fruits, cassis, smoke and mineral / iron accents - great quality relative to the price — 6 months ago
