Light, fresh flavor. Pairs well with sunshine. — 10 years ago
Somewhat tanniny which mellowed as it breathed. Dark fruit and a hint cocoa and earthiness. Very enjoyable with a nice cheese plate. — 11 years ago
Medium amber. Perfect balance of tangy flor and nutty, oxidative notes. Pungent acidity on entry. Superb. Needs a plate of good ham:) — 11 years ago
2012. Oh my god, I just swooned over the aroma. A bit spicy, like peppered strawberries. — 11 years ago
Beautiful, perfumed & floral cherry fruit intertwined with elegant oak on the nose. Plate has power and finesse with broody black fruits, rather bitter tannin that begs food, acidity freshens this on the length. — 13 years ago
With a cheese, dried fruit and nut plate on the back deck as the sun was setting. Perfect location … perfect wine. — 10 years ago
Domaine de Villaine is owned by none other than Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of that most illustrious estate, Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. The little house Villaine is located in Bouzeron, and offers fine quality for money for those looking for a good value. The 2011 is light on fruit, a notoriously difficult vintage, but it has some charm nevertheless with tart cherry notes, cranberry and rose hips on the palate. The acidity is quite high, and the wine begs for food. A nice cheese plate? Yes. — 10 years ago
Big nose, smooth and flavorful but not heavy. Perfect with the cheese plate. — 11 years ago
Juicy plum, serious but lyrical. Wish I had some steak frites right now. A heaping plate of porky lentils for good luck will do! Happy NYE 2014! — 11 years ago
Wow. We're drinking this with a dessert cheese plate and it is exquisite. The big winner pairing is Red Hawk, followed by Valdeon. The wine gives a toasted apricot essence on the nose and a rich lingering palate of dried apricots. When paired with the Red Hawk it gives an Amaretto effect. The sweetness also pairs nicely with the salty Valdeon, each balancing the other out and somehow improving each. — 11 years ago

Sweet and smooth. Would be wonderful with a cheese plate! — 13 years ago
Enjoying this wine at a little wine/cheese shop in Alexandria VA, sharing a cheese plate and escargot with my sister and niece. — 10 years ago
One of our favorites. Paired well with a cheese plate of: truffled pecorino, whipped brie, salami and prosciutto. And my new favorite, foie grois! At Firehouse Grill, Woodside — 11 years ago
