One of the best cider's I have had. 2013. — 9 years ago
1997 vintage. Medium Amber hue. Medium intensity of apples, Perry pears, honey, vanilla. Apple sauce, wood resin, cinnamon, toffee apple. With water added, more wood and vanilla notes to the fore. Very aged. On the palate, off dry, smooth integrated alcohol. Full bodied, pronounced flavour intensity of apples, pears, honey and toffee apple. Long finish, highly complex spirit. — 9 years ago
Smooth, tart red. Nice if you like lighter reds. — 9 years ago

Not so clear in terms of composition, blind tasting says it is not typical Sangiovese.
Example of organic wine before it became a mainstream. Very good balance of berries and seems like it was aging in oak 3 years. “I make Sangiovese, the rest are making coke” popular saying of the wine maker 😊 — 6 years ago

Apple Mouthfulls ! — 8 years ago
Zero dosage Calvados cider. On the nose, Brett, horse barn and crushed apples. In the mouth, high acidity and zero sweetness. Pretty pure apple flavor. Old school and good. — 8 years ago
This just ruined all other Calvados for me. Ho.Lee.Hell. 😍 Quince! — 8 years ago

Preparing for our adventure to Portugal Surdyks’ Recommendation:
(Douro) Portugal is a prolific wine country, best known for its sweet dessert wine - Port. World famous in its many styles, Port is sweet and fortified, prized for its rich flavors and lush texture. Portugal also has fabulous dry red wine. Dow’s “Vale do Bomfim” is made with the same grapes and sourced from the same historic Douro Valley that produces Dow’s great Ports. Portugal’s indigenous grapes – Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão – are names that should pique your interest and draw you to this imported discovery. Picked by hand and manually sorted with great care, the grapes are fermented in small vats. The resulting wine has complexity and style. Portugal’s Douro Valley has consistently good climate and growing conditions almost every year. The flavors are dynamic and the tannic structure is soft and silky. This is a really good wine for all occasions, with an affordable price and value.

Insane Calvados from the best in Normandy coming from a blend of 25-30 year old brandy. Toffee, baked apple, almond, citrus fruit, tropical fruit that has you wanting more. Such a complex spirit. — 7 years ago
