Peaceful Easy Feeling

Jean-Luc Jamet

L'Enclave Côtes du Rhône Syrah 2016

Hot damn this delicious. Over delivering on all fronts. Perfect balance of whole cluster, extract and oak integration. From a plot above the Côte Brune on a plateau of schist and clay which creates a nice plumpness on the palate balanced by the acid profile of this wind-exposed site above the Côte Rôtie. Deeply hued, vibrant and seductively ripe blackberry and huckleberry notes, sweet smoked meat, roasted earth, olive tapenade, lavender, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, mocha. The juice and joyous feeling make for an easy drink but theres structural stuffing here to add a serious side. Can’t wait to revisit. — 6 years ago

Gran Reserva Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Nice purple color with a touch of ruby. Nose is quite special. Nose of sugarplum with seasoning spice, oyster mushrooms, some herbs, and a bit hotness. Taste is very smooth with warmth, and quite chewy. Some milky chocolate feeling with subtle cherry note, and some tobacco leaves. And again some wet mushrooms note. Aftertaste of some tasting note with some spices and a tiny amount of tannins. Very easy to drink and nothing to complain. Decent wine indeed. — 8 years ago

This is an intense, in your face with fruit wine without feeling over extracted. Silky smooth, easy drinking and ready to roll. Great QPR. I have been a long-time fan of his Cab Franc and this Cab Sauv didn't disappoint. — 8 years ago

Deep, smooth, noble. Can't get rid of feeling my glass was just poured from clay jug. Behind wet clay notes one can easy determine ripe plum, black currant and cumin. Very well balanced. Definitely best from Spain I ever had

Red Mountain Red Blend 2007

Color of burgundy with haze. Nose of nice barrel fragrance, round alcohol, raisin, ripe plum, dried figs, and a bit salty note. Taste of velvet, round structure, with smoky, woody, tobacco leaf, and herby note. Low tannins, subtle sweetness like dried fruit, and well polished light acidity mix well to produce a feeling of medium strength wine with good complexity. Very easy to drink and enjoy. Aftertaste is a bit missing with a bit of bittersweet zest and spice. All edges are polished off, and enjoy it at her peak now. Having 2nd bottle 3 months later. Again very enjoyable! — 9 years ago

Sopra Sasso Valpolicella Ripasso Corvina Blend 2014

This is a serious value (12,5€ or 16 USD in retail here in Poland) . Cherry, raisins, almonds very seductive nose. The palate is well balanced. Rather simple with some strong acid backbone, loads of ripe cherry with a sweet layer that bring some roundness to the overall feeling of this palate. Discreet tannins before a fresh finish with fruits. This is really easy going and confirming that I'm really into ripasso and amarone from veneto lately. I have a similar crush with it that I had a year ago with nice crus from Beaujolais — 6 years ago

Côtes de Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Can’t complain, bought from Costco for a. Good price for that contained 4 other bottles of “Bordeaux” wines very consistent from the front of tongue to the throat. Nothing dominant , light spice and dark plum from the nose. Not too acidic. A wine that is easy to pop and pour. A fun wine to drink bottles Witt friends and see what the night turns into. I haven’t been drinking expensive wines recently and found That I very much enjoy a wine that is subtle, and nothin special. A good wine to me doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but has that character that you can taste which showcases the knowledge of the wine maker sticking to the fundamentals making a wine speak for it self from the vines to the earth. Really enjoyed this especially sipping it slowly outside as my 1 wedding anniversary is nov 5th. I am truly blessed and at this young age to be able to soak it all in and smile is priceless!
, cheers to all my delectable friend, a year ago I would not believe that I would go on a trip to meet a bunch of strangers and I have to say that was one of the best decisions I have made, for anyone thinking about meeting up I know it is intimidating but once you do you will never regret doing It.Everyone had that feeling at first but you will not believe just how accepting everyone is. It’s all about the wine even though we all think we are professional reviewers it’s all fun and to have a group with all like minded people it is incredible

Love you all Cheers and WNH for life !!

Cuvée Réserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

I'm pretty sure I paid $18.99 or $21.99 for this private label Cab at K&L Wine Merchants. If you are not buying this wine by the 1/2 case or case...then, holding it for 4-5+ years, you are missing a great QPR opportunity. It's a great everyday wine and at it's price and it doubles as a quality wine to serve and impress friends on the weekend. This is a $50+ Napa Cabernet tonight. The details on Kalinda is K&L buys juice from quality producers or has a quality producer make wine for them under their private label. It's a wine to buy year in and out! When you have it 5+ years later, you'll sip it with a smile thinking how good it is and feeling even better about how little it cost you. It's easy to pay a lot of $ for a good wine. The real trick is to find an affordable quality wine that's worth 2-3 times what you paid for it. A bit of 411 on K&L. The staff at K&L as a whole are amongst the best in the country, if not the best. They experience very little turnover and they been doing wine & spirits for around 40 years. They have awesome relationships with all the wine regions and are greatly respected by producers and vendors alike. They have been traveling to all the major wine regions multiple times a year for a very long time. Good knowledgeable people who are very personable & accessible. — 8 years ago

Antica Terra

Aurata Chardonnay 2012

Absolutely terrific wine. Bound to uplift even the most doomy-gloomy mood. As such, it pairs well with political discourse and the prospect of "President Trump." Go ahead, drink those sorrows away. You deserve it.

Beautiful, shimmering golden color. I believe it's actually already deepening with age. (2012 vintage consumed in mid-2016)

On the nose, apricot fruit and unrefined honey dominate but is accompanied with a menagerie of rare and precious aromatics. The result is a feeling of having something truly exotic in your glass. This is a world-class wine for which there could never be any argument over its worthiness. You will be taken by this wine and there's really no way to over-hype it and set the expectation bar too high because this wine will meet it every time.

As we dig in deeper past the obvious top notes, we discover a treasure chest filled with persimmon, sandalwood, white flower, and vanilla bean.

Upon first entry in the mouth you are met with a zippy liveliness but then that melts gently across your palate to really give you a fine, pervasive coating that excites the taste buds in every corner of your mouth. This is a POWERHOUSE of assertive flavor. This wine will stage a veritable coup d'etat upon your complacent palate. There will be an ouster of your resident ennui. No incumbent sense of boredom will be safe from this wave of populist essence. There will be a complete and total transition of power in the halls of your mind's parliament leading to a peaceful but efficacious revolution. With your personal Congress in shambles, this fresh new confederacy shall draft a Constitution that will usher in a new era of utopian cooperation and transcendental civic euphoria!

Sorry, maybe for a little carried away there. For reals though. Drink this wine when you're feeling down and feel the BURN! Well, not really - because the alcohol is really well-integrated. ;)

In the passenger seat when the sun is sinking and warm four o'clock light is only catching your face briefly through small spaces between tall buildings. Not thinking about much, not needing to. Even though I used cork puller, not easy open it. This is a second time to taste same wine with different vintage following to 2009. Once open, garnet color and oak aroma came out. It takes one hour to open it. Then Over time, I can feel flower aroma. Smooth and full body feeling can be felt in its elegance. Acidity and tannin are enough. @1800, Winelover-TH, 170429 — 8 years ago
