This is a delicious and robust wine at Sweet T’s with Claudie and David — 6 months ago
Enjoyable with an abundance of fruit and soft tannins. I was hoping to wait, sadly it was my last bottle. — 8 months ago
The last time I had this was at The French Laundry trying to convince someone to support a nonprofit I love. The subsequent gift was generous but, somehow, underwhelming. This wine is like that. A great vintage, a great vineyard, in great hands, but it had so much more potential. I’m not whining about a 97-point wine; I’m lucky to enjoy it. But it could’ve been even more. — 9 months ago
Decanted for 90 mins and was impressed. Depth of the second half of the bottle after 24 hours was even more impressive. Big range on this. Dark rich fruits and the lead is the nose as others have said. I’ll be back (yes! I wrote that before realizing what I was writing). My first experience with a Turnbull was a success. — 7 years ago

1 hour decant(some fine/cloudy sediment). A splendid dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: expressive notes of dark brambly fruit, currants, floral, milk chocolate, planting soil, and eucalyptus. Taste: silky, jammy mouthcoating wine with dark plum/cherry, earth, licorice, dark chocolate, and a long graphite/coffee ground finish. YUM! — 4 months ago
Finally i bought a Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of a Bordeaux. A beautiful, powerful, complex steak wine. Cranberry, earth, tar, leather, and spice. Smooth and elegant with smooth bitter tannins in the finish. — 5 months ago
Deep ruby, 14.5% , bold, strong tannic, intense structure, black fruit, , not jammy, oak, tobacco, leather, vanilla, long finish, very good wine, bought $55 — 7 months ago
Fruit fading but still there with a long satisfying finish on the palates — 8 months ago
Ordered from First cellar fall 2024. Gave one to James & Stacey — 9 months ago
From mag. Needs air and then sings. — 10 months ago
This has softened considerably since my last bottle several years ago. Nose is complex, with earth, cedar, cigar box, and an incense-like note. In the mouth, it’s rich but medium-bodied. The tannins that were so prominent a few years ago have significantly resolved. Entering (finally) its drinking window. — 5 months ago
First rate 100% Zinfandel. — 8 months ago
2014 vintage. Excellent fill and cork. Not decanted. Tasted after 1.25 hours open. The best red I’ve ever tasted from Paul Hobbs (and have had approx 125 samples over the years-including the high-end bleep). In a really admirable place currently between integration and balance, fruit and tannins. Will it improve? Doubtful. Can it hold steady for a spell? Definitely. Not exactly the biggest fan of what consists of To Kalon/Tokalon juice/interpretation these days vs the 60’s/70’s/80’s/earlyish 90’s but this was phenomenal. Medium body with respectable sed. A mullet wine…all business up front with a party on the back palate. Color me surprised and impressed. 11.8.24. — 10 months ago
Delicious, full bodied but not overpowering. Complimented my filet meal.
Highly recommend — 5 years ago
Loved it. A well balanced Napa cab. Big fruit but had nice balance. Great nose. Probably gets even better w another 5+ yrs. but seemed fairly mature already. Great w ribeye. — 7 years ago
Low Fruit, vines grown on volcanic soil. Almost has a beautiful ash or smoke quality emerging from it, this is a wine that should age for a while, tannins are nice and exposed. — 9 years ago

This one is a showstopper. Complex and big. Heavy but with grace. Some really nice cab sauv components (88%) but you definitely get the petit Verdot (12%) too. Cassis, plum, blackberry fruits lead out but with some smoked cigar and tobacco leaf that is undeniable. Graphite and menthol. Its balanced perfectly with firm tannins and large acidity. Persists for a while. Gotta end the night with this one. — 7 months ago
