Deep, damson mid season cherry, licorice, anise, rustic nose, juicy, complex, huge furry tannins. Well made, decent length, balanced and pretty, elegant. Needs air. 
On day 2 this is transformed. Ripe and rich with wonderful stylishness and pure deep fruit. Terrific wine.  — 7 years ago
Really nice wine. Fruity with great balance and some acidity asking for another sip. Had with orecchiette with rapini and roasted tomatoes ( among other things) and they were fabulous together. Earthy with a beautiful fruity, sour cherry character. — 9 years ago

Very close to my idea of a desert island wine. At 13% it has more smooth edges but that lovely thread of acidity common to its more expensive & jagged Vallana cousins. Dark red fruits, violets, tree bark. Juicy too, the tannins are pretty integrated. Skurnik importer. — 5 years ago
Rustic and zesty. It’s got crunchy wild cherry fruit and loads of wet Novarese gravel, with a little barnyard funk. Lively and crisp in the mouth, with a bit of chalky tannin to give it a little physicality. It was fantastic to wash down pasta bolognese.
UPDATE: On night two, this wine has put on a bit of weight. Upping rating from 8.9 to 9.0. — 6 years ago

Mazzoni's 2015 Ghemme Ai Livelli is gorgeous. Floral and savory notes infuse the bouquet with notable presence. Light on its feet, yet wonderfully layered, the 2015 is super expressive right out of the gate. There's quite a bit of complexity, while the tannins are nicely mellowed by time. That makes for an incredibly appealing wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2022)
