Gritty n pretty-- a lil bit country, a lil bit rock n roll-- white grapefruit rind, almost running a red light and your first kiss on your second date. Happy days :) — 7 years ago
A big wine that needs a little more time in the cellar in my opinion. Lots of complexity in this Heidi Barrett blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot,, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cab Franc. Dark fruit, spices and chocolate flavors with nice acidity and gritty tannins that should soften in time. The flavor profile is really interesting and I wish I could try it again in 5 or 10 years. — 8 years ago
Grape wood, yellow oak leaves, baked apple, dried blackberry, jasmine incense smoke, pine bark, cran -black cherry fragrances, elegant mouthfeel, aggressive tannin initially, though balanced between fruit and oak, red currant, cranberry, stone-licking, dusty and dry. Twigs and berries on the stiff fruit and cedar wood finish. I like this immensely, but certainly not for everyone. This is cave tools made of flint for gritty combat, not fruit bombs dropped by mad scientists in the hopes of sugaring the masses to death. Hirsute cave ladies, the moon is full, I think you know it's time for bone rattling, plaintive ululating and the coming of Boognish. — 9 years ago
2012 - More fruit on the nose than I expected by lovely linear drive and gritty texture. — 9 years ago
Gritty Tannin Dusty cherry she's big for her britches but don't that deter ya boy, saddle up and ride! You could even ride her when she is a bit older in 5yrs and the experience she would gather I reckon would be worth it.
Dark plum cassis and black bush berries, fill out the light sagey spiced nosed, great weight. I still think it is the best thing they do. — 10 years ago
Sage, nutmeg, allspice, black currant, smoked blackberry and blackened plum with shimmering basalt, cedar and vintage tobacco. Medium mouthfeel with refined tannins, a blood-like iron taste, rich, black cherry and dried cranberry with a gritty, earthen coat. A sprinkle of graphite and nettle in a cedar box. #poderesapaio #bolgheri #italianredwine #rosso #thanksgivingwine #thanksgivingindulgence #thanksgiving — 7 years ago
Blueberries leap out of glass with black licorice, violets, dark currants, loamy soils, vanilla & caramel. Dry, sticky, meaty, chewy M+ tannins, dark currants, dark chocolate, mocha powder, vanilla, caramel, blackberries, black cherries, blueberries, black raspberries, bright violets, grippy, gritty volcanic minerals, a good level of spices, warm, semi-sweet dark, soils, solid acidity with a ripe, round, lush, juicy fruit finish. Barrel tasted the 2016 vintage at the Nickel & Nickel. Photos of Sofia relaxing in the cellar and attendees enjoying lunch. — 7 years ago
Delicious. Gritty berries. Perfect pork chop partner. — 8 years ago
Ligbt bodied bit powerful in aroma. Cherries, Rosemary, gritty tannins but in a good way. Great for the price — 8 years ago
Rather ripe on the nose for a Bandol, with characteristic wild herbaceousness. Plenty of musky odors, however, like bearskin rug. Smooth on the mouthfeel, rather than gritty and tannic as these wines can sometimes be, packed with lavender and garrigue. There's a long, musky finish that reminds me of a goat pen, with a little peppery sharpness and unripe black berries. — 8 years ago
Vibrant and full of energy. Gritty tannins. Needs time to show its best. — 9 years ago
Cinnamon -plum with sweet smoke, black cherry smelling very ripe! Medium mouth, underripe black cherry with a gritty earth taste minus any texture. Pointed finish with a dusty point like a twisted cigarette full of cigar tobacco. Graphite. #Dolcetto #piedmontwines #Italianjuice — 9 years ago
Love the deep purple color. Mint, dark fruit, gritty texture, dried herbs. Glad we have another. — 10 years ago
I grabbed this in my mad dash through Kroger. In short, I would do it again. — 10 years ago
Inky purple with gritty tannins, spirited fresh silky fruit. A substantial brooding wine with miles and miles left in the tank but so damn good right now. The ‘08s and ‘09s from the North CA Coast that I felt were impenetrable fruit bombs the last few years are really blooming now. Drink up but decant. — 7 years ago
Rich, fruity, very good! — 7 years ago
Beautifully floral with the gritty tannins — 7 years ago
Left it in the decanter over night. Got smoother, with more refined tannin an acidity, but slightly more gritty. This won't be a knock out in a 5 more years, but it'll be closer. — 8 years ago
Beautiful balance, finesse - love the gritty terroir Bret ish background. — 8 years ago
Dried roses, graveland potpourri on the nose, nicely tannic and gritty on the tongue with a mixture of baked cherry and some dark fruit. Kirsch on the finish with just a little subdued dry stones. No tar. Some oak. Elegant, refined, and ready to drink. — 8 years ago
Current release -- obviously a baby yet enjoyable nonetheless. Trademark toasted cedar closet nose. Dark and red berries. Somewhat gritty tannins. Medium finish. — 9 years ago
Anise wrapped in dark fruit, tannin a little gritty — 9 years ago

Nothing like a good bottle of claret after a long hike w/friend. Dont seem to think was a good vintage but w/a good maker—-drinking nicely now. Black currants, cassis, gritty tannins, acidic lift but all integrated. Decant/ pour carefully — 6 years ago
