50% Chardonnay / 40% Pinot Meunier / 10% Pinot Noir
On the nose, light citrus and green apple, white flowers with honey.
On the palate, toasty brioche with refreshing acidity and pear/melon notes.
This bottle delivers a stunning value; we normally can buy this at $30, and be oh so happy!
Producer Note:
Canard-Duchêne is unique in its origins, history and style. The Champagne house has been located in Ludes, in the Montagne de Reims National Park, since 1868, and is one of the original Grandes Marques. Its founders, Victor Canard and Leonie Duchêne, both well-known characters in Champagne, were granted the right by the Russian Imperial Family to adopt its coat of arms as the family emblem. The crowned two-headed eagle has thus appeared on every Canard-Duchêne label since the end of the 19th century. These authentic, original Champagnes combine fruit, intensity and complexity.

This was not only the WOTN but is definitely the WOTY for me. My head snapped back in utter amazement as soon as I enjoyed my 1st sniff of the nose. Holy mother of all wines is this bottle absolutely stunning and perfect. It's by far the best wine that I have had the privilege to enjoy. This is exactly what I was expecting from the famed 61!!!!!! It was simply perfect. A truly perfect example of what Latour is and what every Bordeaux blend in the world aspires to be. Utter perfection in its opulence & decadence: blackberry, black currant, intense & soaring aromatics. You could enjoy the nose at arms length!!! Simply & utterly stunning. Thank you Jeff!!!!!!!!!!@Jeffrey Lew — 9 years ago

Toro is my favorite spanish region. Its tempranillo blend, called Tinta de toro, is superb.
And along comes the Vega Sicilia family with their impeccable craftmanship. The result is a joyous, experience. Mature, and silky enough to carry the Vega Sicilia coat of arms on the cork, but lively enough to challenge the wandering palate. — 10 years ago
Very sweet! A little goes a long way. — 10 years ago
Revisiting. It actually did well with a smidge of age. Less saline more really ripe kumquat. I want this wine to be my best friend. Like we are both gonna change and mature but will always provide quality us-time to each other. Dang I’m worried Eight Cellars isn’t making wine anymore? Because I was able to buy 2014 Sauvignon Blanc in 2018... — 8 years ago
45% Pinot Noir / 30% Chardonnay / 25% Pinot Meunier
On the nose, strawberry shortcake, raspberry and citrus peels.
On the palate, red raspberry/currant and minerals. Dry.
At $40 I have not seen a better brut rosé bottle at this price point. This is the stuff I want to flow out of my faucet when I turn the handle! We can never have enough of this Champagne! Seek and you will be rewarded.

This review is wine for my goshdarned people!. Because my podcast has been covering grocery store faves of listeners figured I should write about this Vons/Ralph’s fave possibly again. I should check I’ve likely covered before...It holds up. Balanced in every dang way. Dry with medium acid, medium minus tannins, as for alcohol...I’m guessing, well heck it’s so smooth I think maybe deceptive. 13.5? Anddddd (imagine me scurrying from my tasting seat to the fridge to investigate) I was indeed deceived by the plushness of these ripe tannins it is 14.5 abv what do you know! Body is full, flavor intensity is full but not too complex. Then come berries spice and raisins. But so fucking delicious—this is a wine that would get wine ratings people in arms. How do you rate a wine that doesn’t confound you but just makes you way happy?! Ravenswood at most levels usually seems to please me extraordinarily and I will not get into ratings baloney. If you listen to the podcast know I stand behind my Ravenswood forevs analysis. Shit is gonna be SO delightful if you wanna think about it you’ll find something if not holy heck just enjoy! The dried cherry, the ripe tannin, the silky alcohol level hell this grocery store wine might even be a desert island wine. — 8 years ago

Ratings seem too low. Had in Newport ri. Very nice. 20-25$ — 9 years ago
ML BD Newport 11/19/16. Excellent still. Great acidic balance to go with various after dinner snacks. Would have been better with foods Friday night. Saved a bit overnight and bubbles gone but wine still tasted very good. Prominent notes of stones and wet slate and hints of ginger then. — 10 years ago
Honeydew on the nose and initial palette, but chalky dry mid palette and lingering melon and white peach of the finish. Love this wine, very similar to a good Mosel Riesling — 10 years ago
1998 Château Caronne Sainte-Gemme, Bordeaux, France, Haut-Médoc. 1 Jeroboam. Dinner at Newport House, Newport, Co. Mayo, Ireland. 8/29/15. Fantastic dinner with great friends. Black berries taste with a pepper finish. The Jeroboam size allowed sharing of several decanters with other guests.

We are at the start of yet another weekend and I welcome it with open arms. I have opened the 2015 Château Malescot St. Exupéry Margaux. This wine is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.
The nose is very expressive with full dark fruit, black cherry, black plum, blackberry, black currant, violet, menthol, mocha, roasted herbs and a rich earthiness.
The palate gives up the same beautiful dark fruit, black cherry, blackberry, black currant, menthol, licorice, herbs, asparagus, graphite and rich earth.
This is a wonderfully balanced full bodied supple mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium + smooth mouth coating tannins that leads to a long dark fruit filled finish. Enjoy your weekend, be safe and please be kind to one another. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
