Had on a random Sunday with Richie - very light and refreshing - smells great — 9 years ago
Decent red table wine. Enjoyed this with lasagna and was good on its own as well. — 9 years ago
From either the 3rd largest co-op in the world or in Europe. I think it's in Europe. Produttori is located in the heart of the tiny town of Barbaresco just to the right of the tower shown in the photo and up the street from Gaja. Also, one of the best Michelin stared restaurants for lunch we've ever had. As well, the best restaurant service we have experienced and it wasn't that pricey. For such large a co-op, they produce some outstanding value wines and some straight up excellent wines. This 09 is quite nice and one of their entry level value wines. A nice pair with my skillet lasagna. The wine shows more sour than sweet dark cherries, black raspberries, dry dark plums, touch of pouched strawberries, black cherry cola, dry dark florals bouquet, a light delicate herbaceous quality, dark soils with dry powdery crushed rocks with nice acidity. The balance of fruit & earth is improving as is the finish. It still needs at least 3-5 more years in bottle. Very nice wine under $30. A 9.0 on it's own with the skillet lasagna, 9.1-9.2. — 9 years ago

Had this wine at a friends house. Tastes great on its own and paired nicely with the grilled beef filets we had. Tons of fruit and structure. Blackberry, plum, vanilla, and spice. At this price point it will be another one of our go to weeknight gems. — 10 years ago

Great porch sipper. Easy drinking but can hold its own with summer veggies, fish and even pork. — 11 years ago
Great on its own. Fruity with tannins that are just right. — 11 years ago
If chardonnay had a textbook, Hanzell would have its own chapter. — 11 years ago
My favorite easy to drink wine all on its own it stands up to the enjoyment test! — 12 years ago
The estate dates back to the Crusades, and Scottish navigator, George Smith, the owner in the 18th century. He was followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, and then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard now own the estate. Dark plum red with dark berry fruit aromas, herb and spice from young Cab vines. On the palate complex sweet black fruit flavors and cacao notes. Firm tannins, rich and full, lingering, mineral ending, unlike the ‘10 wait a few years. — 8 years ago
A splurge. This bistro has a remarkable wine cellar, which I'd like to adopt as my own! But just one bottle, and this was an excellent choice by Valerie. It took the whole meal to establish its personality, which is bold and complicated. — 9 years ago
Loved this. A full bouquet of roses and citrus and red fruit and sweet spice. Assertive on its own gentle with pork. Well balanced. — 9 years ago
Consistently one of my favorite NV Rosé Champagnes the current release continues a glorious tradition. Fresh aromas of red apple abs very fruit with a toasty undertone and vibrant mouse. Excellent with food or on its own. Long finish — 10 years ago
Third day open and coming into its own. Zesty and round, but not too rich. — 10 years ago
In its own class — 11 years ago
Super vibrant and exciting with great depth. Needs about 3 years to really come into its own. #closdesmouches #josephdrouhin #burgundy — 11 years ago
Had this at a restaurant. Was delish and full on its own. — 11 years ago
Loved it! Very Rich — 12 years ago
Very smooth. Nice on its own. Fruity and oaky. — 13 years ago
East drinking on its own ... nice — 8 years ago
Six years and this Morgon is coming into its own. Fantastic nose and palate — 9 years ago
The Martín Códax Winery was founded in 1986 by a group of winegrowers in Cambados, the capital of the Salnés Valle. All grapes are sourced from their own vineyards. Nice light straw yellow color with aromas of white flesh fruit and floral scents. On the palate apple, peach, pear and lemon zest, some light spice with vivid acidity. The finish displays the minerality on a lingering ending. Crisp and fresh. Very nice! Tasting Sample. — 10 years ago
I've been storing this bottle for 5 years. Drinking it makes me regret that I didn't purchase a few of these in 2011. It seems to be 100% cab but tastes and feels like an old world blend. Sophisticated. Balanced. Velvety. Luxurious. It has a juicy berry, licorice opening with a medium nutty, peppery finish. It's perfect for drinking on its own. Very satisfying glass (or two) of California Red. — 10 years ago
Really, really good wine! Perfect with steak and on its own. — 10 years ago
Great value! You will be hard pressed to find a better wine under $10. Great with pork or red sauce and will stand on its own. Spicy cherry, not too heavy on the tannins. — 11 years ago
The California first growth delivers the goods! This 2002 mag had so much power and cassis impact without becoming heavy- on the contrary it was super refreshing. This beat Bordeaux at its own game with Kobe Fred steak after 2 hours in the decanter. — 11 years ago
