The estate dates back to the Crusades, and Scottish navigator, George Smith, the owner in the 18th century. He was followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, and then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard now own the estate. Dark plum red with dark berry fruit aromas, herb and spice from young Cab vines. On the palate complex sweet black fruit flavors and cacao notes. Firm tannins, rich and full, lingering, mineral ending, unlike the ‘10 wait a few years. — 8 years ago
Decent red table wine. Enjoyed this with lasagna and was good on its own as well. — 8 years ago
Still quite youthful flavors of ripe fresh fruit, earth and spice. Pleasant texture. Continue to cellar if you own (2016++) — 9 years ago
Consistently one of my favorite NV Rosé Champagnes the current release continues a glorious tradition. Fresh aromas of red apple abs very fruit with a toasty undertone and vibrant mouse. Excellent with food or on its own. Long finish — 9 years ago
Really, really good wine! Perfect with steak and on its own. — 10 years ago
Great value! You will be hard pressed to find a better wine under $10. Great with pork or red sauce and will stand on its own. Spicy cherry, not too heavy on the tannins. — 10 years ago
Just starting to come into its own and open up... — 11 years ago
If chardonnay had a textbook, Hanzell would have its own chapter. — 11 years ago
Contrary to other wines, D'yquem is in a class of it's own in terms of Sauternes. There is rarely, if ever, a bad year, although some years, like the 2001, stand out more than others. The disparity in quality from a GREAT d'yquem to a mediocre one & so on isn't as drastic as one might imagine. While the older vintages seem to age VERY well, it isn't as discernible from a recent vintage as other wines. Sauternes, in general are consistent, & none more than d'yquem. — 11 years ago
A rich dense Cab Sauv. Great flavors of cassis, dark cherry and vanilla combine for a wine that’s good with a meal or on its own. — 7 years ago
Wow, enjoy on its own. Full bodied, currant flavors with a lil smoke on palette. Yummy for a Fall eve — 7 years ago
When you bring your own wine to he Hyatt. Deep in flavor, with a velvet soft finish. — 8 years ago
Loved this. A full bouquet of roses and citrus and red fruit and sweet spice. Assertive on its own gentle with pork. Well balanced. — 9 years ago
9/10 because it wasn't free😆...seriously, so good! Light flavour, but holds its own! — 9 years ago
Third day open and coming into its own. Zesty and round, but not too rich. — 10 years ago
Way more easily drinkable than expected. Very smooth and complex at the same time. Yet still light and fruity. Was awesome on its own. — 10 years ago
Super vibrant and exciting with great depth. Needs about 3 years to really come into its own. #closdesmouches #josephdrouhin #burgundy — 10 years ago
Had this at a restaurant. Was delish and full on its own. — 11 years ago
Loved it! Very Rich — 11 years ago
Love this easy sipping red blend. So smooth with a medium fruitiness. I could pair it with almost anything, honestly! — 7 years ago
Heavy on the Grenache and Mourvèdre in 2014. With a backbone of deep fruit Syrah and inky cinsaut to round it out — 7 years ago
Had on a random Sunday with Richie - very light and refreshing - smells great — 8 years ago
Six years and this Morgon is coming into its own. Fantastic nose and palate — 9 years ago
The Martín Códax Winery was founded in 1986 by a group of winegrowers in Cambados, the capital of the Salnés Valle. All grapes are sourced from their own vineyards. Nice light straw yellow color with aromas of white flesh fruit and floral scents. On the palate apple, peach, pear and lemon zest, some light spice with vivid acidity. The finish displays the minerality on a lingering ending. Crisp and fresh. Very nice! Tasting Sample. — 9 years ago
Had this wine at a friends house. Tastes great on its own and paired nicely with the grilled beef filets we had. Tons of fruit and structure. Blackberry, plum, vanilla, and spice. At this price point it will be another one of our go to weeknight gems. — 10 years ago
Great porch sipper. Easy drinking but can hold its own with summer veggies, fish and even pork. — 10 years ago
Great on its own. Fruity with tannins that are just right. — 10 years ago
Settling into its own. Not overly green with some good fruit starting to poke its head out. — 11 years ago
My favorite easy to drink wine all on its own it stands up to the enjoyment test! — 11 years ago
