Just did not open up - very flat which is uncharacteristic for this wine — 6 years ago
The nose has a pleasing off quality of a much older wine. Rotting wood and dried tomatoes come to mind, but there is also ripe red fruit and some brightness. Good acidity and fine tannins with some receding fruit in the pallet. Less structured than a Bordeaux, but still a big wine. — 8 years ago
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a tasty one from Mount Veeder.
Deep ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruity nose of black plums, black currants, dark coffee, oak, spices, pencil lead, vanilla, tobacco, licorice, earth, light herbs and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, coffee, vanilla, spices, cola, licorice, mint, black pepper, bitter herbs, vegetables and earth.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins, cranberries and peppercorn.
This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is starting to drink nicely now, although it needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.
Showing nice complexity, elegant and spicy, with lots of earth notes.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.
Smooth, elegant and tangy. Feels like a young Bordeaux, and will age nicely in the next 10 years.
Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it with a Brie cheese and crackers.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 30 months in French oak barrels (50% new). A tiny production of only 125 cases.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

A beautiful dry rose with great depth of flavor, texture and an incredible finish. I need to get more of this! — 8 years ago
Uncorked for 1 hour, sweet nose, dark red fruits, a lot going on in this wine. Finish is lengthy, definitely a good wine to enjoy with grilled, fatty meat with assertive flavor. Well integrated tannins and a lot of life left. I need to follow this over a couple days to see what secondary flavors show up...
Vacuvin overnight in fridge
Day 2: poured after reaching temp of 60F and enjoyed with dinner. Secondary notes are more noticeable and fruit is balanced. Leather, spice, and oak. Food friendly (paired with peppered bacon, lettuce, garden tomato, avocado sandwich - BLAT). Plum on night 2 vs. Black cherry on initial open. — 10 years ago
2014 - With aeration, luscious tight dark mountain fruit bouquet, great body, long smooth finish; even better after breathing for an hour; better to have decanted; solid! — 6 years ago
A wonderful smooth Zin not spicy or overly dry - nice fruit. February 2020. — 6 years ago

"Odedi"
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ purplish rim.
On the nose blueberries, black currants, black plums, oak, licorice, light vanilla, earth, light vegetables, eucalyptus, tobacco leaf, herbs, dark chocolates and black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, red currants, oak, tobacco, licorice, earth, cocoa, spices, coffee and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder is still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.
Showing lots of earth notes, once it opens up (90 minutes).
This 4 year old is showing black fruits on the nose, and red fruits on the palate. Feels more like a Left Bank Bordeaux. Interesting stuff. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.
Good by itself and better with food. I paired it with dried meats and crackers. Will pair nicely with lamb dishes.
A small production of only 7 barrels. Bottled in May 2021.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
