This Rioja white wine is made from 50% Viura grapes, 35% Tempranillo Blanco and 15% Maturana Blanca, and they claim it's the first wine in the world made from those varieties. The grapes were grown in estate vineyards located “in different Rioja terroirs.” The Vivanco Rioja Viura Blend 2016 is pale in the glass and offers up a nose of citrus and wet rock minerals. It's a gentle set of aromas, and the palate follows suit, with easy acidity - still quite fresh, though - and flavors of lemon pie with a spray of green apples. It should pair very well with white fish, risotto or pasta with butter and pepper. — 9 years ago
(Last week) Sorry but I have no words for this. Dare I say that this is probably the very best wine I have tasted in years. Beautiful and perfect example of Rioja Tempranillo and granache and maturana and graciano and 3 rioja whites. It was interesting to taste the difference between top and bottom of the bottle. — 10 years ago
Stony taste with lots of minerality. Citrus flavor. Literally the only maturana Blanca in the world, grown on two hectares owned by ljalba. A very obscure wine you can geek out on! — 11 years ago

Eguren Ugate’s attempt at reviving a historical variety from Rioja, maturana. Fresh, intense wine hitting with black fruit l, a little spiciness. Sharp tannins indicate some aging would help. Really pleasant wine. — 8 years ago
