This is why we love the Matthiasson’s, always experimenting, innovating, and refining!

1hr+ decant. Bright red color. Massive floral nose with apricot. Well balanced with medium depth. Apples, olives, oranges, and peaches on the palate. If having blind, I’m pretty sure I would have gone white or at a minimum a massive Rose. Best comparison would be a floral Beaujolais. I don’t get any Syrah. Paired very nicely with lamb, peppers, and saffron rice. Would be lovely on a summer night. 93 and heading higher because I can’t seem to put the glass down, especially because of the lovely, unique smell! Reminds me of a beer I once had but can’t recall its name. I find myself just continuing to write about this!! — 5 years ago

First time trying this “villages” Chardonnay from Matthiasson. For the price quite nice. I think it satisfies the concept of a more accessible less expensive introduction to their Chardonnay - ie, a villages wine - quite well. Very good pairing with a goat cheese and broccolini tart. — 5 years ago
