A terrific offering from Matt Trevisan, the 2010 Problem Child is a blend of zinfandel (77%), syrah (16%), and mourvedre (7%) and is an example of what non-traditional blends can achieve in Paso Robles. Contrary to conventional thinking about zins, the addition of syrah and mourvedre make this wine improve with some age. Intense dark berry notes on the nose, this wine has complexity that is hard to get from zin on its own. One of the better incarnations of this wine that I've had, this is terrific. One bit of advice: serve it a couple of degrees below cellar temp to bring it in to balance. — 10 years ago

Great nose with hints of cocoa, red raspberry fruit with subdued sweetness, well integrated tannins with a nice acid finish that last for over a minute. I've possibly underrated this. Years ago Matt opened a ton of older bottles for a group of us during a winery visit and I have to believe this has time left in the tank. — 10 years ago
