Great nose: raw dry-aged strip steak, crushed rocks, peppercorns, oozy dark berry sap. Dense and minerally, this is soft-textured but with loads of tannic scaffolding. Long, clingy, minerally finish. Because it’s from Corbieres, the acids are a bit lower than, say, a Northern Rhône Syrah, but other than that it would be a dead ringer for a Syrah from that region. Great value. — 9 years ago

Normally a Merlot from Sonoma I would have zero interest in but WOW! This wine is amazing, vanilla, leather, and subtly smoke on the nose. Medium to heavy body on the palate.
