A wine that would do well at a masquerade party. On opening a dead ringer for an aged riesling, petrol and honey. The palate is full of honey, pears and faint hints of minerals all wrapped in a wave of acid. No one would be criticized if they tasted it blind and said aged Chenin . Fascinating — 11 years ago
One of the better values from the great 2000 vintage...Château Haut-Bergey from #PessacLeognan. Still drinking at its peak and showing its age in the best way. Black currant, cigar box, smoke, violets, and coffee. Lots of floral elements. Medium bodied and lots of finesse. Fine tannic structure. Good minerality on the medium length finish. An interesting wine from Pessac that at times seemed to masquerade as a wine from Margaux. There is enough depth of fruit and tannic structure for this to keep going for at least a few more years. — 9 years ago
It's a bit more sweet than I usually like, but I'm nuts for this one. Juicy apricot and stone fruits, maybe some guava. — 9 years ago
