I’m surprised by how good this is. Not quite whiskey, and not quite bourbon. Whiskbon? — 7 years ago
Extremely smooth - great start for an Old Fashion. — 8 years ago
Amazing wine. The nose is like sticking your face in a a dirt, oak, cherry mash. Flavor is full of blackberry jam and cherry with a good spice that keeps it interesting. Full mouth feel is smooth. Not a lot of acidity or oak. This wine is just complex enough to keep you drinking but not boring or overpower. If I could find more if it it would be the house wine. — 9 years ago
Friday nights wine comes from the right bank of Bordeaux - Canon Fronsac. The 2010 Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The Herve family first started making wine back in 1890 and continue to today. A great track record and delivering a well valued Bordeaux.
The nose is very expressive with dark fruits of black plum, blackberry, black currant, licorice, clove, coffee beans and tar.
Upon first sip black cherries jump out at you full force, with blueberries, a smooth coating of creme de cassis and dried oregano.
There is a nice full bodied mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium sandy tannins.
For the price this is a very nice and serviceable Bordeaux.

Rediscovered in the pantry.... Left behind by my father, who always enjoys a good bourbon. — 11 years ago
Was really concerned with this one for some reason but it turned out to be nice...a little fruit forward, very smooth, easy to drink. Didn't really have an Italian feel for the record — 12 years ago
Uncorked ~30m, then ~15m rest in glass.
Nose has oxidized yellow apple, white flowers and fresh baked bread.
Palate has buttery yellow apple mash, oxidized strawberry, great mineral balance and a long finish.
I've finally met a Brice bottle I can fully embrace, this vintage selection is just perfect, approachable in its youth and quite elegant. — 7 years ago

Incredibly expressive. Lot's of fresh red fruits, with a mash of stemy, earthy, and flowery stuff. — 8 years ago
There's a lot to like about this whisky. There's also quite a lot not to like. The intense vanilla, caramel, mocha flavors are delicious and sustain beautifully. However, there isn't the elegance or smoothness of a great whisky. Better than most large production options at a similar price point and a worthy addition to the home bar.

The poor mans Pappy. Same mash. Subtle sweetness from the higher wheat percentage. Bargain of the summer! — 9 years ago
Reminiscent of Beaujolais' Gamay, this southern part of Tuscany's Ampeleia is producing some fine red wine! Mine tonight, after 30 minutes swim and spin in the decanter's pool of naked open space and air shows first to the nose wet rocks, slate and sandstone freshly accenting menthol and anise then strictly earthen dirt and minerals and a hint of the berries. First kiss is lightly but intriguingly nasty, wet and dripping red fruit which immediately coats and clings but most interestingly reaches back for the wet rocks overlooking the Med, then re-engages just in time to leave hints of her red and blue berry essence complimenting the blackened octopus in a mash of white beans and spices laced with a hint of Tabasco offered up by Chapel Hill's Il Palio located off Franklin Street (checkout both) Ciao🕶 — 10 years ago
Sweet, smooth for such high proof. Great value — 10 years ago
For the record very good with microwave pizza at 2am. Very herbal and dark plum fruit. — 11 years ago
Carmel and toffee and a little spice. Perfect. 100% rye mash. — 11 years ago
The 2014 Mouton is midweight but packs a punch. Great intensity of fruit, particularly blackberries, but also great freshness too. Mint, minerality pop up just before a spicy finish through which the vibrancy is maintained with the wine's attractive acidity. This wine is pure class. (It's also worth mentioning that the label is by David Hockney, whose Pool just set a record for the most expensive painting ever sold by a living artist, at a mere $90.2m at Christie's in NYC!) — 7 years ago
2010 Rippon Mature Vine Pinot Noir & Harold Alexander’s Soul Jazz masterpiece Sunshine Man. New Zealand Pinot continues to be a revelation, and this one is terrific. This record is layered and detailed, yet remains exuberant and easy to love. The wine fits the exact same description. — 8 years ago
Pretty solid for the low price tag — 8 years ago
Very smooth. Great bourbon. — 9 years ago
I'm like a skipping record with these Pupillins but the initial shipment was 'impressive' size so the repeats are so inevitable.
This one was much better than the last ones. The tanin / acidity hookup here was really different and I can't say why. Three months on a rack surely can't be reason? — 10 years ago
Out of the three Rye Whiskey samples that we tried this was my favorite. Keeping in mind that I was a "Rye Whiskey Virgin" until that night, so I'm no expert. But I do know what I like. It was smooth out of the glass, had a nice nose, and wasn't over powering. Jeff and I agreed, and ranked this one 1st. — 10 years ago

Delicious... Going great with meatloaf and mash for dinner tonight... — 11 years ago
