Warm vintage cru Beaujolais sourced from a tiny plot in the Côte du Py vineyard. There’s a lot to be said about the fruit-forward spiciness, but for me the nuances are flattened by a richness I associate with a higher ABV - the wines that are coming to mind are Williams Selyem’s pinots rather than a Beaujolais or Burgundy. Not really for me but a worthwhile avenue to explore if you want to try a different, relatively subtler version of a big red. — 5 years ago
Another slam dunk from Alsace! Liquid gold from the great -15 vintage. Nose is oily and full of liquorice, fennel, lots of tropical fruits, and chalkywet minerals; on the palate the wine is equally oily, fruity, robust, peppery and with a high-octane finish. Recognizable as sauv blanc, but so different from my frequent New Zealand sauv blancs. No grapefruit or grassiness. No cat pee. Just classic sauv blanc fragrance and minerality. — 9 years ago

Discrete nose of white fruit with pears and also a slight minty and smoke feel, very discrete. The palate is gorgeous, such balance between the perfect acidity and slight richness of fruit and elegance. Another great 2017 CDB. 90-91

Deep gold in color. Apricot cobbler, ginger, ripe peach, and petrol on the nose. The palate presents apricot liquor, flint, orange liqueur, white pepper, ginger, cinnamon, clove, dried stone fruit, and lemon. Medium bodied, medium alcohol, medium acid, and a long complex finish. This wine is at its prime at 13 years old. A fascinating wine. — 9 months ago
