The insight that breathing this wine is a must was respected and the difference in my initial sip to 30 minutes later was validation of the recommendation!

I’ve had the hardest time remembering my new zip code even despite having written it a thousand times in the last few weeks... maybe I’m still dreaming... anyway...
It was still 90° at 7:30 so I went in search of Sauvignon Blanc. Sunshine Foods is the local grocery and has exactly the surprisingly very good selection that should be expected from a specialty local grocer in the heart of Napa Valley. I’m not going to lie, I bought this wine so that I would finally learn my zip code (even if I did let somebody ahead of me at checkout so I could finish researching it).
The winemaker is Sam Baxter of Terra Valentine and it’s sourced from the San Mateo Ranch Vineyard in Rutherford. At $19 that was good enough for me. Loaded with ripe pear and fresh, almost underripe melon, lime zest, and stony minerality, with just a tinge of honeysuckle that softens the corners. The acid is relatively toned down but still present enough to satisfy most purists. — 7 years ago
Vey nice easy drink — 8 years ago
Very surprising for only $35. Took about 30 min to open up and another 30 let out the flavors. Ruby red, sweet oak, bing cherry, cassis, vanilla, light body with similarities to Rutherford style. I could see this showing well for another 5 years and hello to the high alcohol %!
Jamieson Ranch Vineyards is the southernmost winery in the Napa Valley, one of the world’s foremost winemaking regions. The estate’s more than 300 acres of gently rolling hills and terraced vineyards benefit from the cooling fog and breezes from the nearby San Pablo Bay, climatic conditions that favor the production of exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The unique architecture of Jamieson Ranch Vineyards is reminiscent of a majestic western mountain lodge, replete with soaring ceilings, seating around a cozy fireplace, an observation gallery overlooking the barrel room and production area, and a spectacular wraparound veranda that affords sweeping views of the Napa Valley and San Pablo Bay. — 8 years ago

2008 M. Étain Cabernet Sauvignon from the Cohn Ranch in Rutherford, Napa Valley. Second label from Scarecrow. Inaugural vintage. Made by Celia Welsh. 15% alcohol. Literally translated, “Monsieur Tin.” The Tin Man to go along with Scarecrow. Still waiting for The Cowardly Lion. Maybe a nice Chardonnay? Gorgeous dark garnet color. Aromatic nose of espresso and cocoa. Some nutmeg and baking spices as well. Just beautiful. Killer palate of sweet dark chocolate-covered cherries and black plums. Nuances of cedar, vanilla and that mocha that I love. Silky tannins round out a pleasurable experience. Lush and velvety texture. Lingering finish. MUCH better than I remember this wine which was opened closer to release. 10 years has been a godsend. As many of you know, I don’t drink much Cabernet, even though I love it. But when I do, I’m reminded of how much I truly love the grape. — 8 years ago
Awesome zin, bought at Rutherford tasting room in Napa, very light and fruit forward but a very smooth finish. — 9 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Morisoli Vineyard located in heart of Rutherford Ranch, a renowned Napa area. Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of black fruits, floral and complex spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with vanilla and cedar with a creamy texture. Vivid acidity, well-structured ripe tannins, long finish on this full-bodied wine ending with fruit, oak and spice character. Should develop nicely over next 5+ years. Outstanding!
