Tasted double blind. Poured a light straw color. Oh. Snap. The nose is so compelling with strong mineral aromas of crushed rock, star fruit, and lime. The palate gets blanketed with bright tropical fruits, lime-ade and minerals...and minerals...and minerals. So much intensity!! Laser focused acid. Fabulous balance. The finish lasts for several minutes...and you love every second of it. It comes across so young. A tremendous wine. — 5 years ago

From magnum. The 1999 “Le Grands Épinots” pours a ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe red fruits: strawberry, raspberry, red flowers, forest floor, some ferrous earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A solid showing and I would expect the larger format helped with that. Drink now through 2029. — 8 months ago
This 2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir from Domaine de Montille is a delightful expression of the varietal. With its medium ruby color and light to medium body, it exhibits an elegant and approachable nature. The wine boasts a medium finish that leaves a pleasant impression on the palate, while its medium acidity provides a refreshing balance.
As you raise the glass to your nose, a symphony of floral aromas unfolds, dominated by the captivating scent of roses and a bouquet of mixed flowers. The bright red cherries add a vibrant fruit-forward character, complemented by subtle undertones of thyme that lend an herbaceous touch. A hint of white pepper adds an intriguing spiciness, enhancing the aromatic complexity of this exquisite Pinot Noir.
In terms of recommendation, I must say this wine is truly amazing. Its vibrant personality and beautifully expressive nature make it an excellent choice to enjoy over lunch, particularly when paired with lamb. The wine's liveliness and interplay of flavors will undoubtedly elevate the dining experience, adding an extra layer of enjoyment. With its exceptional qualities, I confidently assign this Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Pinot Noir a rating of 95, recognizing its excellence and finesse.

Wet rock. Raspberries. Brilliant now but this will age spectacularly. — 2 years ago
Quite a tightly wound and muscular wine. On the nose - beautiful wild strawberries, plum, dark cherries, musk, soy sauce, herbaceous notes. Grippy intense tannin further betrays the youth. Clearly packs lots of power but will need years to open. — 4 years ago

Lots of character from age but also fresh... from a private stash housed “underneath” the Domaine’s cellar, I am told. — 7 years ago
