Note : Opening of this Magnum 2002 that had not moved from its individual wooden case in special. Always so many emotions to take out such a wine and please the family. Perfect time to open it and we are on a silky red robe blood with shards garnet. The typical nose of Sassicaia with flavors of black fruits, pepper, copper and cigar. Once in the mouth, the aromas explode and the final is long, greedy, structured and elegant. Excellent.

Excellent.

I plowed through a spicy sausage stuffed green pepper with this as a companion. Floral notes and an exotic sandlewood flavor. Finish was thin, but I'm not complaining — 9 years ago
Sour red cherries, wild strawberry, horse shit, mushrooms. Wild acidity. Years ahead of it. Fresh. Vital. — 9 years ago
A monster of a wine! This takes me back to all of the wonders of our last Paso trip. Merry Christmas, you filthy animals!!! — 10 years ago
Velvety mouthfeel with medium tannins. Robust red and dried fruits, finish of vanilla and graphite. Quaffable af. Would pair with lamb, rabbit, pork, cheese, hummus. Versatile. Honestly not worth it's price point. An off vintage from a delicious vinyard. Would not be hard to find a bottle 1/5 of the price. — 10 years ago
Very tasty old vine Zin! Smooth and is it, “fruit-forward”, yes that is it. — 5 years ago
Yellow delicious apple and white peach. Very honeyed as well. This is exactly how I like my morning granola. It's been twenty years since I've been to Hungary. This is a great reminder that I've got to get back. — 5 years ago

A dang good Malbec. — 7 years ago
Red fruit has never been as regal. The visual experience is bathed in red elegance. A hint of licorice in the nose, followed by an explosion of berries all over the place, and then the most beautiful silk as it fades into a long, subtle farewell. A beautiful surprise every time. — 8 years ago
the best wine made in my home valley. It uses the same process as Amarone but it is smoother and fresher without loosing complex structure and strong cherry and caramel — 9 years ago
(17/20) Ароматы абрикосового конфитюра, апельсиновой цедры, лимонного мармелада. Полусладкое с относительно высоким уровнем кислотности. Достаточно лёгкое и сбалансированное десертное вино. — 9 years ago

5-Oh Bday Dinner... From a half bottle. Deep red and purple color. Mostly opaque and thick in the glass. There is still some good fruit in the nose with gravel and soil notes. Very round in the mouth. The wine hung in there over the hour it was consumed. Nice experience with an 80+ year old wine. — 10 years ago
1934 Château Margaux
Top shoulder fill. Semi-opaque at the core, almost like an old burgundy with its brownish hews. Beautiful and graceful bouquet of roses, raspberries that have been baked, very elegant and healthy nose. At first very dry, with the fruit barely hanging on for dear life, but after 15 minutes in the decanted it comes alive with sweet fruit, high acidity and just a kiss of tannin. This is very complex and sublime for about a period of 20-40 minutes, what else could you ask for from a 80 year old bottle of wine.
THANKS DAVE !!

🏅 Rating 93+/100 (4,35⭐)
Tasted from magnum.
Ruby color with tawny hue showing the age. First nose has a slight touch of iron. Fruit is ripe and sweet. Vegetable scent of tomato stems suggesting presence of Cabernet Sauvignon. Sandy tannins of Sangiovese. Amazing how bottle aging makes the wine so smooth and satin.
Mostly tertiary aromas, but very well holding the age and could last for at least 5 more years without any signs of decline
Elegant expression of famous Tignanello.
1981 was outshadowed by great 1982. It was 10th anniversary vintage and is considered a very fine one.
Key oenological data:
Average sugar content of grapes at harvest 21.00%
Average total acidity of the grapes 7.80%
Alcohol content after fermentation 13.00
Average fermentation temperature 28C
Length of fermentation 13 days
Acidity of wine after malo 5.90
Ageing in 225 litre barrels 20 months
Bottle ageing in our cellars 18 months

D6. Young. Very young. Even though it was decanted and frequently agitated, this one didn't come out to play until almost 2 hr after opening. Nose of Bing cherry and mint. Some red clay must. The entry is very acidic. Black cherry hint but Bing cherry backbone. Herbal middle. Started to show terroir-driven notes to the finish. Youthful and tight tannin. LOTS of life ahead. Be in NO HURRY to drink this one. I'd say optimal drinking time 5 to 10 years. — 7 years ago

Has held up quite nicely considering sir Parker's initial 86 rating. Great earthiness, black fruit, tobacco and spice and completely smooth and lacking any tannins whatsoever. Was go time 5 years ago but still held up quite nicely - Carl's place 06-02-16 — 10 years ago

First time trying an old Felton Road and a Block 5 courtesy of Can. Forest floor, some black fruits. Great concentration with depth and intensity of flavour. Good length but never felt over-blown or heavy. Shows why this wine is an icon. 94 points — 11 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Estate is the Napa Valley property of Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix; wine is bottled at historic Napanook Vineyard. A blend of 89% Cab Sauv, 6% Cab Franc & 5% Petit Verdot, aged in 40% new French oak, dark Ruby with aromas of dark currant-like berries, tobacco and cedar. On the palate layers of ripe blackberry, black cherry and cassis with vanilla, cacao and espresso. Well balanced, fine soft integrated tannins, long finish ending with floral, fruit, mineral and slight earthy character. Needs a half dozen years in the bottle but will last 20+ years! As good as Cab gets! — 4 years ago
