Berries and spice on the nose. Menthol - but in a good way. Smoke & spices. Wish it were a bit fuller bodied but no other complaints! Really good w sausage pizza. — 9 years ago
Best South American Rose I have tried to date. I haven't had many, but this is made in the Provincial Style. Great job! — 10 years ago
Barrel aged from his Touriga Nacional led blend of old vine Portuguese vines lost in the Sierra, this delicate yet plush rosé brings sensations of dreaming of summer-- of tomatoes, peaches, & watermelon-- like a lyric from a song you know you'll never forget-- like a sensual reverie on "this floating world" where "parties are never meant to last..." — 10 years ago
Excelent body, full of oak flavor. Nicest Malbec in years! — 10 years ago
Juicy bunch of flowers, interesting and different! — 11 years ago
Wonderfully strong and decadent! This Malbec is a deep dark purple in color with a powerful core of blackberry and blueberry with an exterior edge of vanilla and light green stick notes. The palate is lush with these darker fruits notes finishing with an excellent fade of coffee and cocoa. — 11 years ago
Surdyks Spring 2015 Sale - $12.99 (compare at $17.99)
Staff Selection (Bill McCleary): This Malbec from Terrazas is a new wine that surprises with more than expected taste at a lower than anticipated price. This wine compares to Cahhors, France, the traditional home base of old world Malbec. The French Malbecs have a dry undertone of cured tobacco leafiness with a firm tannin and dark tart damson plum flavor. In Argentina, Malbec has emerged with the intense sun and sandy soil to become an aromatic celebrity with a lush fat rich frutiness and soft texture, often leaving it quite ordinary. Terrazas has found, in this Reserva, a rightful balance of French deep character and Argentine berry brightness. Musky aromas of plum and ripe fig, wood smoke, dark chocolate and a signature array of briary, herbal grassy notes give Malbec a distinct character. A floral rose flower fragrance added to the bouquet. A dense, full-flavor of darker fruit seems comfortable with a tannic thickness that never gets excessive. This is a wine of young character that has great aging potential. Give it a few years in your cellar and you will be enchanted by its maturity. Very approachable now, and would be good paired with a grilled tenderloin topped with melted blue cheese. — 11 years ago
This cork was so tight it broke into thousand pieces and I've opens over 5000 bottles! This bottle was so confounding that I lost myself. This wine stood still in that space as if it just wanted to be left alone. Genie was not giving me much for more than an hour after decanting through funnel and drip by drip! I would not be able to tell you what this wine was if I blind tasted it. I looked for Eucalyptus and hints were there but not obvious...a brooding beast that was like a bear woken up before Spring. Tannins and acid balance was all there but it showed so slow but the structure was awe aspiring. I've had 76 Martha's before few times but no bottle confused me this much. The power tasted of Chambertin and then it was like odd Ausone...I'm screwed as I know so little now. — 12 years ago
Fruit, acids and tannins faded into the background, initially lost (and thought off and nearly tossed!) due to extreme undergrowth funk. That blew off in 30 mins and what remained was Syrah turned all burgundy, fleshy but light. Not best example, but delicious. — 9 years ago
Beautifully balanced with just the right amount of fruit hints. Has substance as well. '12 in delicious. — 10 years ago
Usually have the best wine of the week at Sunday lunch. The 86 Latour is this weeks wine of the week. Hi Tannic year in Bordeaux and many experts think that Latour lost the plot in 86 with most thinking that Mouton was the wine of the vintage. This wine had lots of leather savouriness with no fruit character but still a class act. A good wine but not at the usual superlative Latour standard. — 11 years ago
Very nice flavour - interesting blend. Had this at Tapas restaurant in Canmorr — 12 years ago
A heavy blend of heavy grapes. Deep crimson and dense. Open and lively Bordeaux with black fruit, cassis and pencil lead, leather as well as new-oak-brought vanilla and dark chocolate. Full bodied and medium+acidity, high alcohol at 15.5!( Though tasted like around 14.5) Finishes long, the alcohol weaken the length though. Perfect time to enjoy now or age it another 2-3 years. 89-90 points. Tasted in Beijing, 12.1 — 12 years ago
Medium violet in color, supple tannins, berries & tar. Medium finish. — 9 years ago

It's time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time, a wonderful Chilean Cabernet.
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, bell pepper, sage, peppermint, eucalyptus and smoke.
Full bodied with medium acidity and beautiful long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, figs, cloves, herbs, earth, cola, vanilla, oak, spices, light vegetables, coffee, chocolates, bell pepper, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
An elegant, Single Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, with lots of complexity and fitness, but not fully balanced yet.
Still young now, but very enjoyable by itself, and better with BBQ Meats. I paired it with a cheese platter, crackers and nice company.
Grapes are grown at the foot hills of the Andes Mountains, on stony soils. 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.
14.5% alcohol by volume. — 10 years ago
2016-02-14 Y O steak dinner with Nick in Dallas. Bold, strong start, smooth finish but lacking much ending character. — 10 years ago
Strong flavor of cherries. Light notes of oak but not oaky at all. Flavor evolved over 3 hours leaving very light fruity notes at end. Deguste with leg of lamb and grilled vegetables: mushrooms, eggplant and Italian onions. — 10 years ago
Locals doing a mighty fine job. I bet this takes over the wells in town — 11 years ago
Loved it. No alcohol on the nose at 14.49%. Apple, honey, pear, minerality. Great acidity. Very unique wine, and refreshing on a 100 degree day in the Willamette Valley. — 11 years ago
Amplifying the fruits, acicdity and the FRESHNESS of the regular Billecarrt Rose yet did not lost the elegant and fineness of what a Billecart Rose suppose to be...
Love the 1996 vintage and hopefully this will develop gracefully with time in the bottle.
