Ali Story, of Smith-Story Wines, was in town and did a nice tasting at Classic today. A pleasure to meet and very unique and enjoyable wines.
Neat story behind this wine. Ali & Eric have a golden doodle named Lord Sandwich. He’s known for stealing socks. They created this NV “kitchen sink” field blend (zin, Petite Sirah, carignan, Pinot noir) as “his wine” where proceeds go to those who need socks. Some older wine is put in to this so it was surprisingly mellow for a zin/PS blend. Cherry, Blackberries, plum, & violet. — 8 years ago
Woah best of tonight's trio, gracefully aged. Everything I want in vintage Bordeaux. Leather, bell pepper, hints of pepper and spice. Elegant finish. Oh lord this bottle went too fast — 9 years ago

Banyan is a label belonging to Hobo Wine Co meant to introduce a line of wines that pair more friendly with Asian cuisine. Gewürtztraminer (spicy Traminer) is a pink grape that makes an aromatic, opulent fruity wine. Expect the Monterey county fruit to provide more texture and ripeness than its Germanic counterparts.

Delicious Pinot. Not your normal Cali Pinot - like I’ve had in France. Kenny does such a great job with his Pinots. I just love them. — 8 years ago
Cherry and jammy but with character. Excellent nose and flavor. I don't even particularly gravitate towards cabs but this one's a keeper. — 8 years ago
Ripe strawberries and herbs, super refreshing. — 9 years ago

Oh my lord. What an extremely balanced, smooth wine. The aroma/nose is perfect, youthful fruits and berries, oak; but the taste is where it's really at. Sublime, smooth, nothing prominent, nothing hidden, all of them sitting in a equal row, like an extremely high end pair of headphones, nearly clinical. High alcohol content, low viscosity, translucent ruby color, presence of gas. What an absolutely incredible wine -- and it's from California!!! — 8 years ago
Stood up to spicy meat. Rich, leathery finish. Good lord, I must have this again! — 9 years ago
Smooth mild blend with pleasant lingering aftertaste — 9 years ago
Living up to its known for being "Lord of the Vines". To those who adore a momentous affiliation of rustic and refinement, this is your match. Incredible. — 10 years ago
Restrained and almost feminine..........for Zin. Pleasant nose and nice red fruit on the palate with a medium length finish. — 10 years ago
Wow. Hello! Unbelievable complex flavors- beeswax, citrus, ethereal trace of Manzanilla Sherry. Lord what else? Oh yes, 4000 feet elevation, pre-phylloxera, limited sulphur. Crazy good! Nice pick Chris! — 11 years ago
