Liparita

Liparita

Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Needed a minute to open. Classic Napa profile with a nice long finish. Light on its feet. Elegant touch of oak. Plenty of life in this to go for a while. Plenty of character for everyone at the table. Quite balanced. — 4 years ago

Wow, this is a nice one. Inadvertently went to the higher end of wine fridge tonight, but this one is worth the price I paid. — 6 years ago

Liparita

Napa Valley Merlot 1995

For all of the Napa Valley #Merlot #haters - the '95 Liparita Merlot is in gorgeous form tonight. The bouquet showed a mix of ripe strawberry, cherry, blueberry and brown spice with hints of sweet herbs, crushed stone, and clove. It was soft on the palate with zesty acidity and perfectly resolved tannin which added body and tactile textures as notes of spicy cherry and blueberry caressed the senses along with a hint of dried citrus. It finished long with notes of tobacco, sweet herbs and remnants of dried red and blue fruits. Amazing for a wine that most people have either consumed early or forgotten about. — 7 years ago

Hope & Grace

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

I hoped this would be better than the Liparita and it delivered, with grace. Generous, but well-integrated, use of oak that imparts some tasty caramel. The fruit is dark and rich, but savory. Some secondary cacao and meat offer complexity alongside a finish with moderate length. A decent ~$50 Napa Cab. — 7 years ago
