Dr. Steve Brule gets a 10! Drank the 3L at the ranch. Worth it!!! — 6 years ago
Earthy and berry aroma. Smooth and velvety with tastes of black currant, plum, and cherry. Dusty and chalky with a mouth coating feel. Slightly dry and spicy with a lingering finish. — 6 years ago
I will preface this note by disclosing that I am generally not a fan of Super Tuscans. I like old school Toscana. But I will try to be objective here. The nose is very evocative of a classified growth Bordeaux: lots of cedary, gravelly scents and some dark berry fruit underneath. In the mouth it is concentrated and soft, but develops weight in the back half of the palate. Some peppery heat from alcohol at the end too. I know it’s predominantly Sangiovese, but it really does taste very Left Bank, except for a little note redder fruit at the end. — 8 years ago

Love what Pax has done over the years. I have a few bottles of his 2003 Griffins Layer... It's a beautiful wine that is probably mind-blowing at this point; however, this wine shows restraint, refinement and a sense of place. Looking forward to owning a bottle in a few years. — 10 years ago
A lot of oak with berry berries and very dark color. A joy to drink. — 10 years ago

Very nice pinot noir but not traditional by pinot standards. Very clean and complex. Layers of great berry fruit and spice. Interesting textures. Very pleasant finish. — 11 years ago
I do remember....what a wine! — 12 years ago
Juicy-fruited, this is unabashedly lime- and peach-forward, with floral and mineral accents playing a secondary role. Acidity is refreshing but not life-ruining. Mouthfeel is pleasantly rounded, belying its moderate abv (11.5%) and crisp, dry finish. Not complex, but pure pleasure, balanced and composed; you’d have to be some kind of dipshit not to love this wine. — 5 years ago
Fantastic 1988 Phelps Insignia. Fresh, lively with acidity and wonderful red berry flavors and slight cocoa notes on the finish. Silky mouthfeel. Nose still unfurling hints of sweet chocolate and raspberry. A gorgeous showing. — 5 years ago
Craggy Range is a family owned winery established in 1997. Pale straw with stone and citrus fruit aromas with hints of honey sweetness. On the palate dry, with lively fruit, gooseberry, lime, melon and pronounced grapefruit flavors with subtle herb tones, vivid acidity, crisp and refreshing. Long smooth finish ending with a mineral tones. Nice value! Ready to drink now! Love the ‘19. — 6 years ago
Berry. Guessed this but was 2 years off. — 7 years ago
Everyone knows I’m a fan of LRA but I’ve not had the 98 for a long time!
As I just found some @ £68 I had to try & it’s lovely for the money with lots of life left 👍

Citrus particularly melon and peach. Crisp finish with lime overtones. For those who want to move a bit beyond typical dry and crisp whites, try this wine. — 11 years ago
So refined for a 2013. Very drinkable now. Floral nose and berry finish. — 11 years ago
Great summer wine! On the rocks with a little lime! Amazing! — 13 years ago
A délicate bouquet of fresh lime, ripe peaches with hints of slate. Lots of zing, a forward acid with a spritz at the end! Simply decadent! — 5 years ago
Good berry flavor. 100% best one I’ve had so far — 5 years ago
Took a while to open up. Purple berry fruits, olive, meaty with peppery and gunpowder notes on the nose. Elegant round tannins were still very youthful and grippy. Sweet cassis, pepper, olive tapenade and gamey flavors on the palate. High acidity and well-structured. Could have given it some more time in the cellar. — 6 years ago
Consumed 03/2020. It is an appellation of Monterey county 56%, Santa Barbara County 26%, and Sonoma County 18%. It is a layered blend with spice filled aromas, bright berry flavors and rich textures. — 6 years ago
A somewhat muted nose at this point with notes of citrus and wet stone. Juicy and quite dry on the palate with lots of minerality. Much dryer on the palate than the 2014 vintage. Light, juicy flavors of lemon, lime and a touch of peach lead to big, bright acidity and lots of crunchy wet stone and slate notes. The finish is long and very crisp with lots of bright acidity. Great sushi pairing for the evening. — 10 years ago
Intense raspberry on the nose with hints of smoke. Amazed how time has tamed this wine. Rich and lush red fruit this has successfully transformed itself. Reverberated in every nook and cranny of my mouth Carries its alcohol effortlessly. Last of 3 bottles and this one was head and shoulders better than the previous 2. — 10 years ago
Crazy awesome. Tons of black pepper, smoke, tobacco and bacon fat. Luscious dark fruits. Very fruit forward palate. Waaaaaay too young. — 11 years ago
Cali sunshine in a glass! Key lime pie, lemon curd, beeswax, touch of tropical fruit. Lively acidity. — 11 years ago
