Less aroma than Nebbiolo but surprisingly high tannins and very healthy dense color. — 6 years ago
Beautiful floral notes - red roses hits you at first. Dried tart cherry, red currant, wild strawberry, fennel, mushroom. Touch of sandalwood once it opens up. Really nice — 6 years ago

Orange brick color, subtle dried rose petal, red cherry, cinnamon, clove, licorice, slightly wet soil but somewhat dusty, med body, med plus to high tannin, slight minty, med plus acidity, quite elegant with some depth. 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina, 10% croatina. — 9 years ago
Perfect with my garganelli--structured, rustic nose with a palate to match; barely overripe red fruits, earth, mushroom (but not too funky). May not be quaffable. It opens up. — 9 years ago

— 10 years ago
Dark fruits and an excellent texture! Really good wine for an excellent price. — 10 years ago
From Lessona. Very Northern. Non-intrusive winemaking, so unique. — 11 years ago
Probably the best croatina I’ve ever had! Okay, prob the only one I’ve ever had. Another Lou classic, earthy, funky, tart cherries, beautiful ruby color and barnyard nose. — 5 years ago
The 1961 Lessona from Tenuta Sella is alive and kicking! Plenty of acidity and red fruit, it pops with a surprising freshness for a wine of such age. A rather excellent companion while catching up with a friend from (high) school.
$199 on the Maialino wine list in NYC, which is packed with such gems. — 6 years ago
80% Nebbiolo, 15% Vespolina & 5% Croatina
Color not of a wine of only 5 years...deep yet translucent ruby, brown edges, stunning.
Nose, I'm in love! If there was such a thing as a cherry with rose petal that was actually a rock and you could eat it without losing all your teeth or you're a Rock Biter, this is that wine!
Palate...cherry, cherry and did I mention cherry? Oh Nebbiolo how I love thee. Baking spice, anise, oh the palate is continually changing, I'm confused and over joyed, god damn life is complicated, or is it easy?
Paired this bottle with 4+ hour, slow/low grilled spare ribs and Brahms 7th Symphony, amazballs as my buddy would say!
