Probably the best croatina I’ve ever had! Okay, prob the only one I’ve ever had. Another Lou classic, earthy, funky, tart cherries, beautiful ruby color and barnyard nose. — 6 years ago
Perfumed, elegant and structured, notes of red plum, violets, earth, umami, a bit sweaty. — 8 years ago
This guy is like the Jacky Truchot of Alto Piemonte. Light color, yet amazing finesse and delicacy along with a brilliant texture. Gorgeous nose. Cherries, spice, sawdust, Rainer cherries as well, some lurid feral aromas as well. So complex, delicate and detailed. Palate is beautifully fruited with lovely elegant tannin and gorgeous bright cherries rule the day. Dusty elegant tannin and sappy fruit finish it off. Needs maybe 1 hour to turn into the lace monster it becomes. — 8 years ago
Just popped the '12 vintage and it's stellar right out the gate. Spice box aromas of clove and kola nut, red and purple flowers, dried cranberries and fresh cherries. Very seductive. Soft and tart on the palate. 100% Nebbiolo, but a fraction of the tannin typical of a Barolo or Barbaresco of the same age. — 9 years ago

Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo. Gorgeous, pale-brick color. Velvety, leather, ripe black fruit, dried roses, tobacco and tar, but with high-altitude and northern Piedmont freshness, minerals, and perfumed elegance. From Flatiron Wines. — 6 years ago
Beautiful floral notes - red roses hits you at first. Dried tart cherry, red currant, wild strawberry, fennel, mushroom. Touch of sandalwood once it opens up. Really nice — 7 years ago
Solid Nebbiolo — 8 years ago
From even north of Lessona. Cherry, raspberry, blackberry and fresh plum. White pepper, red liquorice, Dried fennel, almond paste and orange rind. Fine, gentle emery board like tannins with perky acidity. Really approachable now. 65% neb, 20% croatina and 15% vespolina. — 9 years ago
Wonderful minerality and fabulous fruit. So satisfying. — 10 years ago
Riper, but really elegant wine. — 10 years ago

Spicy & smooth. Light mouth feel and not as dry as Pinot. Great body, would be perf with Italian food — 12 years ago
Earthy and subtle. Medium bodied, high acid and cherry. — 6 years ago

Less aroma than Nebbiolo but surprisingly high tannins and very healthy dense color. — 7 years ago
Serious, dry and bittersweet. Oak, spices, cranberries, citrus peel and medicinal herbs. Drinks like a classic style Barolo. Some signs of maturity. — 7 years ago
Beautiful with foie gras! — 7 years ago
Big acid. Dry, super clean, minerality. 24 hrs cold maceration. — 9 years ago
Just love this!!!! — 9 years ago
Perfect with my garganelli--structured, rustic nose with a palate to match; barely overripe red fruits, earth, mushroom (but not too funky). May not be quaffable. It opens up. — 10 years ago
