Antisto Tradition Cahors Malbec 2013

My first French Malbec. Very strong and robust berry flavors, followed by something almost mossy with strong woody notes. Incredibly rich, yet surprisingly smooth. Worth putting away in the cellar. — 9 years ago

Very smooth right after letting it breathe (30 minutes is my standard). Full bodied which starts off with spice/pepper notes and descends into light wood tone leading into the fruity follow up. Blackberry and dark cherry hints, the spice/pepper lead falls off enough to not contend with the fruit flavors. Label says blueberry hints, but if any then quite subtle as I taste the darker fruits followed by final flavors of soft caramel (label says mocha) and oak/wood. I would be shocked if not aged in wood.
Will definitely buy this again.

Bellefleur de Haute-Serre Brut Rosé Malbec

Bellefluer de Haute Serre Brut Rose Cahors Sparkling Rose wine made with Malbec. Color from skin contact. Vibrant flavor and fruit on the nose. A first for me and very pleasant with the Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner. — 10 years ago

Gouleyant Gaillac Loin de l'Oeil-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

Hot yellow raisin in hazelnut oil, raw spaghetti squash, warm watermelon rind, linseed oil, pine nettle, juniper nose. Creamy squash on brioche, not a pronounced acidity here, but the fat isn't the typical pit-fruit travesty either, although it has a resonance that suggests apricot oil. It's bodyweight suggests a salinity but it finishes amarula and papaya. Worked with a clean, asian-inspired steel-cut, mushroom and hempfu comfort meal. — 8 years ago
